Up for sale is a vintage 1919 brown preferred stock certificate from Northway Motors of Natick Massachusetts. Certificate is for 10 shares. Conditon: Nice bold signatures and embossed seal. Right side corners missing. Scattered edge wear and some minor edge tares and folds. Please see picture for addtional information on the condition. Embossed seal reads" Northway Motors Corporation Incorporated 1917" Below is some limited information I have been able to locate on the web on this company. I make no representation to its accuracy. Northway Motors Corporation. Received a charter in 1917 and opened for business in 1918. Built a plant in Natick which produced top of line trucks. The founder was Ralph E. Northway. Former chief engineer for the Dodge brothers and famous consultant to the early auto industry. He was involved with various ... morecompanies in Michigan and Ohio including General Motors and Ford before moving to New England. Northway left the company in 1922 to join"Maxim Motor Co. in Middleboro. One source suggest the Treasurer absconded with company funds and forced the firms failure. Northway Motor and Manufacturing(Maybury Grand Ave and Hancock Detroit MI) was started by Ralph Northway in 1903 to make parts for Ford. Previously he worked for Russel W&F, Dodge Brothers, and Allis-Chalmers, and designed the Northern engine. He had ties to Eureka Mfg, and broke away to form Northway Motors in 1904 and eventually made engines for Auburn, Buick, Ford, and Oldsmobile. In 1909 they started to make autos in a plant in Ohio, and later heavy trucks in Natick, Mass. The Detroit plant was bought by GM keeping the Northway name, although the name continued to be used to produce vehicles in its other plants until 1924. Wings spread. The Indian is still regarded as THE American motorcycle. Extremely collectible, one does not see them on the road very often but rather in museums. Authentic Little Miami Railroad Company cancelled stock certificate issued in the 1930's. This is a real certificate. Not a copy or reproduction. The certificate has a beautiful vignette of a steam locomotive pulling a passenger railcar with people looking on and woods and a far off town in the background. It also has a smaller vignette on the bottom of a farmer plowing his fields with two horses. The Little Miami was incorporated on March 11, 1836 and its first president, who served without pay, was Jerremiah Morrow, governor of Ohio. It was the second railroad incorporated in the State of Ohio. The LMRR would eventually be purchased by the Pittsburgh, Cincinatti, Chicago and St. Louis RR, which was part of the Pennsylvania RR Company.
