Abbess 18"x18"x18" laboratory vacuum chamber
18" Cube Standard model vacuum chamber from Abbess. Purchased new 6 years ago. Was barely used several times to assist with removing air bubble voids from curing epoxy. Includes shelving system with four stainless steel shelves. This is a very rugged benchtop chamber made from 1/2" aluminum alloy plates with all seams welded tight. The door is made of 2" thick acrylic with hinges on the right side and draw latches on the left side. The replaceable O-ring seal is in perfect condition and holds-22inHg vacuum with about 1-2inHg drop in 24 hours. You can find more info on Abbess' web site. The shelves have some drops of cured epoxy on them- see photo above for an example. We'll do our best to scrape most of them off before shipment. Also included is a 115V single-phase Emerson Model C55NXHGJ-4035 vacuum pump. This coater is a two chamber production coating system with 8 rotating substrate fixtures in each chamber. Multiple material depositions can be performed in each chamber independently of the other chamber. The system has a single high vacuum pumping system that is switched from chamber to chamber for evacuating each chamber. A Model DPF-Z-14Z. 20 inch oil diffusion pump and a 20 inch CTI cryogenic pump are provided with an Edwards EH 1200 cfm backing blower that is backed by three KRP-3000- DAIA mechanical rotary pumps. Large high vacuum chamber diffusion pumped used for thin film deposition
The chamber was used to deposit a II-VI semiconductor compound which sublimates at around 600C. The precursors were evaporated from a six foot long tubular stainless steel furnace in which the precursors were contained. The heaters were brought to temperature by running a low voltage current through it. The current was regulated with magnetic saturation transformers. Five such evaporation sources and corresponding substrate holders were used. The substrates were a series of aluminum cylinders heated with oil at maybe 400C. All the controls are in hand. The system is complete but was never powered up at our plant. However. A very similar smaller system is in place and demonstrable.
