Bucyrus-Erie had more experience in the manufacture of excavating machinery than any other concern in the world. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Bucyrus supplied 77 of the 102 steam shovels used to dig the Panama Canal. In 1927, Bucyrus merged with the Erie Steam Shovel Company to form Bucyrus-Erie. The Bucyrus 20-B full-revolving steam shovel on mechanized tracks. Was introduced in 1922. It’s bucket gulped a modest.75 cubic yard, but there were a lot of customer who did not have canals to dig, and the 20-B was a solid success. It was used for digging in quarries, building roads, trenching and lifting. They were available as cable shovels, cable hoes, draglines and cranes as both crawler mounted machines and"Transit Machines" which were truck mounted. The Galion Iron Works Company was founded by David Charles Boyd in 1907. In the central Ohio town from which the company took its name. Galion’s first products included a wide range of road-building and other construction equipment, such as drag scrapers, plows, wagons, stone unloaders, rock crushers, and a variety of other"experimental machines" By 1911, Galion had settled the design of a light-duty, horse-drawn road grader, which entered serial production. The"Light Premier" was an early grader produced in 1915. It was billed as light enough for two horses, but strong enough for four. Its blade could be raised, lowered, angled, tilted, and shifted sideways, just like the blade movements on a modern grader. Galion soon became famous for building some of the largest pull-type graders made for road construction. Popular throughout the 1920s and 1930s. These huge machines were pulled by the largest traction engines and crawler tractors available. These graders outperformed other motor graders of the day. 1921 vintage booklet of Harris Homes. Chicago. This is NOT a reprint or reproduction. The softcover booklet measures 6 in. x 9.5 in. and has 107 pages. It is well-illustrated. It includes the exteriors and floor plans of many types of homes from small cottages to large. Two-story homes. It also includes garages, bathrooms, doors, windows, lighting, furnaces. There is one pull-out page showing a larger view of a home. These are ready-cut homes and the booklet explains the construction, materials, financing etc. though no actual prices are included. The cover is quite worn and soiled but the interior is acceptable, generally clean with some soil to the outer pages. The cover has been re-attached in a professional manner; all of the interior pages are securely stapled. The pages are not marked or torn and there are no odors.

This is a newer edition, however the pages have the appearance of being aged and antiqued, with the original text and illustrations included. There is no other date other than the original publication date of 1854, but we believe this particular copy to date somewhere between 1960-1980 due to the bookbinding style and condition. A great vintage piece of 19th cenury academia without the fragility of an older copy! Measurements: 8"x5"x1.25" inches Condition: Good used vintage condition with a few white scuffs on the back and handwriting scribbled in the corner of one page. This is an old Caterpillar wrench. Or at least that is what I was told. I am not sure. This measures 18 5/16" long and the opening is 2 3/16" This has a number 9544DA on the one side and weighs 6.3 pounds. This has no cracks or chips or any other damage other than age. I don't think this is pitted and I think this would clean up nice. All I did to this was wipe the dust off. I have 3 of these listed and they were all stored in a barn. Antique strain gauge with analog dial to measure stress/strain in construction/engineering materials. Comes in nice wooden box with blue velvet lining. Main bar unit. But a second bar with marks for 4,5,6,7, and 8 inches. Also a 19/32" Williams wrench for adjustments in the set. I think the main pivot point on the bar is stuck. Needs lubrication I am sure. The manual dial indication moves nicely when the plunger is moved by hand. Not sure on age. Marked 1932 for patent. My guess is 1930-40's. Manufactured by F F Metzger and Sons, Philadelphia.
