T he test button did nothing until I turned the line adjust up and noticed th e mete r's needle climb up but never got past the" R eplace" section. I have some knowledge of how to test tubes but I am not an exp ert. Therefore. The tester is being auctioned" As-Is" I t looks to be all complete except for a screw missing under the" Range" knob. The paper roll sights are a little opaque but did come a little clearer when I wiped them. The paper roll does move but it's a little wrinkled as if it getting caught but it's not torn. Scuff marks and obvious wear and tear but the latches are still working properly and the handle is in one piece as well. The tube tester itself is in good condition as well. I attempted to test 6CB6 tube that I had by turning all the dials and switches and the tube definitely started heating up but it never displayed an actual result so I'm not sure either the tube was bad or the tester doesn't display the results correctly. Here's great find! A Simpson 555 Tube Tester in great shape! Came from an estate sale of an old T.V.Radio Repairman. The the unit receives power when plugged into the socket. Included are three very hard to find adapters for this unit. Try as you like. I doubt you'll find them. Also, a calibration manual is included. The power cord needs replacing as shown in pics. Thank you for looking! Up for your consideration is a beautiful 1950's Simpson Model 555 Radio and T.V. tube tester. This may also test amplifier tubes. If you want to send me a message with your tube numbers, I can tell you if the are on the list or not) The face, dials, meter, and switches are all in beautiful shape. The light in the meter lights up when plugged in and turned on, and I am able to center the needle in the meter with the centering dial. The tube test chart does move back and forth smoothly, and is clearly readable. This also includes some tools. Including what appears to be a tube install/ remove tool. I also downloaded and printed out a copy of the owner's manual which will be included. Since I do not have any tubes to test on this tester. I do not know if the tester part works or not.
