Clean, and accurate EICO model 628 tube tester with the attractive brushed aluminum ... morepanel from my collection. The EICO 628 was the successor to the very popular model 625. With sockets added to test the newer tubes that were becoming available. In addition to the usual octal, loctal, 7& 9-pin miniature sockets, Eico added 5& 7-pin nuvistor sockets, novar and compactron sockets, plus 7& 9-pin pin straighteners. The 9-pin socket is actually a combination 9& 10-pin miniature socket. The 628 also has a vastly improved roll chart. The old 4. 5, 6& 7-pin sockets are gone to make room for the new ones. But the older tubes can still be tested. In fact, the data is still on the roll chart and in the tube data manual(included) All it takes is a simple adapter you can make for yourself from an old 8-pin tube base and the socket of your choice. The EICO series of test instruments were intended for professional use. And were marketed mostly to radio and TV repairmen through the local electronic parts dealerships, and their construction shows it. The professional looking brushed aluminum panel was designed to inspire confidence in the customer who saw it, and the heavy steel case of this instrument was intended to protect it well. The circuit was licensed from Triplett and is the same as the Triplett 3413. Heath and Knight also licensed the circuit and produced it as the Heathkit models TC-x and IT-xx. Knight testers are known as the KG-600 series. The test data for all of these tube testers is generally interchangeable. As can be seen from the tag on power cord and the"Tested" stamp on the inside of the case, this is a factory wired instrument- perhaps important if you want to be sure it was done correctly. Eico didn't provide any calibration adjustments for this model tester. Relying instead on the inherent accuracy achieved by the use of close tolerance components in the measuring circuits. This vintage tube tester is in great cond. It is a Model 700 made by Precision Apparatus Co. Brooklyn NY USA. All knobs and dials and roller work smoothly. I have powered this tester up and it does power up. The needle on the gauge moves. It is not broken or stuck. The wooden box has dovetail corners and is in great cond. Box has a Sylvania decal.Handle hinges and closures are all great. It has a leather handle. The power cord has hardened and the outer coating is cracking off however it does work.This is a really nice tube tester in a really nice box. As with all electrical items I sell I cannot guarantee it works only that it does power up. There is an instructional booklet and it says Operating Instructions for Series 700. It was made in the USA and while I am not sure of the date I would guess it to be late 1950s. There is no model number on it. Though it appears very similiar to 600 series units I have seen. This vintage unit tests 4, 5, 6 and 7"big pin" tubes as well as octal, loktal, 7& 9 pin miniatures. It is not setup for subminiatures, compactrons or nuvistors. The case measures approximately 14"x10"x6" The unit shows some normal wear and tear, the worst damage being a slight bend to the pointer on the meter(see photos. I checked a few tubes with it and found that some seemed to work fine but others did not show any reading at all. Vintage Heathkit Tube Tester. Model# TC-1. Works great. Comes with copies of assembling and instruction manual. Also has a supplement and seldom used tube data test set-up manual. Tester has a built in roll chart for test set-up. Test sockets for 4, 5, 7 pin early type tubes, 8 pin octal and loctal tubes and 7,9 pin miniature tubes. All controls,switches and tube sockets were cleaned. Some capacitors, resistors and diodes were replaced. N ew power cord and roll chart window. G ood grid cap lead. Great for testing amplifier. Audio, stereo, hi/fi radio and tv tubes. Someone made the top cover. The line/short test switch had a toggle switch. I replaced it with the correct slide switch. Switch holes were round for toggle switch(see pictures) The repair looks good. S hows some age. But is in overall good plus condition.

Military TV-2B/U Vacuum Electron Tube Test Set, w/manual. Great Condition
For sale. Top of the line, Military TV-2B/U Vacuum Electron Tube Test Set with manual. This set is in great condition as the photos clearly show. Indicators, sockets and control panel look beautiful. Has a three prong plug too. I purchased this 20 years ago and when it arrived. Went into dry, desert storage as I was working overseas at the time. 20 years later, it's still sitting there. I purchased it from Tucker Electronics. Who at the time had just gone through it and calibrated it(NIST) I never put power on it. There are a few light dings to the case from previous use during it's life but nothing to effect its function. The only thing to note is that the two test cables(red and black) with the clips on them got old and need to be replaced. Their rubber coatings are dried out and very stiff. That's why the price is low. Those ... morecables with clips can be easily found in multimeter kits or at Fry's Electronics or similar. Etc. and are easily changed. I lowered the price 200.00 because of that, so get it here cheap. If it were me, I'd remove the existing red and black cables and replace them with female test sockets and use fresh red and black cables with clips and male bananna jacks to make it easy to service in the future. Other than that, it looks great. Test chart moves when the thumbwheel is turned. Includes manual and Tucker's inspection sheet. So I put a piece of masking tape on it for now. The innards show you that the guts are TV-7D/U. The meter also says TV-7D/U. It has one extra"F" range not found in non-D TV-7 testers. Made in 1965. It passes line test. I have two more images showing the tube tester testing a 12AX7 and an EF86(12AX7 and EF86 not included) Last calibrated about 12 years ago so I cannot guarantee the accuracy anymore. Up for auction is a TV-7A/U Tube Tester. This tester is from a collection I'll be auctioning over the next few months. It has been stored indoors in a smoke free and climate controlled home. The TV-7 series of military tube testers is considered one of the best testers ever made. The design is supremely rugged and compact. It tests a great many types quickly and easily and enjoys wide support. If you want a tube tester that gives great results with a small footprint the TV-7 is it. If you want a rugged tester you can travel with this one is also hard to beat. I love my TV-2 and I suppose it's portable but it hasn't moved from my bench in years and isn't likely to. I tested this TV-7 against my TV-2 using a few reference tubes and I got the expected result in every case. Dings and scratches typical of the rough handling these were designed to withstand. The hinge pins are bent but the lid still closes properly. All controls and switched are working properly. Up for auction is a vintage Eico Model 625 tube tester. The serial number is 68782W. I recently purchased a number of vintage tube related items from an estate and this tester came from that group. The tester was plugged in and it lights up. But I don't know how to test it properly. The roll chart scrolls smoothly and the cabinet is in good shape, but needs a cleaning. The TV-7/ 10 series of military tube testers are considered some of the best testers ever made. The TV-10 is a larger variant of the TV-7 and has a major advantage in that it reads out directly in micromhos and has a built in roll chart. The design is supremely rugged and compact. It tests a great many types quickly and easily and enjoys wide support. If you want a tube tester that gives great results with a direct readout than this is the one! The TV-10 is not a very well known tube tester. There just weren't very many of them made and they are hard to find. It is basically an up-scale version of the ever popular TV-7. The only flaws worth mentioning is a crack or two in the plastic instruction sheet mounted in the lid and the power cord is getting a little stiff. I compared the readings with a friends TV-7 and this set was close but slightly higher on the tubes we checked[12AX7. 6V6, 6L6, 6BQ5] It has a Navy calibration sticker from 1968, so it's somewhat overdue for a calibration[several guys on the web will do calibrations reasonably] It measures approx 18" X 7" X 10" and very well packed[double boxed] shipping weight will be 26.5 pounds from zip code 24012. This tube tester works great but does need a tuneup I've enjoyed having it. But don't use it much do I'm selling it and will be listing all my tubes in the next week too. It powers up and works great but could use a tuneup. The power cord is starting to Frey and the big porcelain tube socket is cracked and the small cord input could be replaced. The tube chart is a little tight and could use to be reset too. And there are dings in the case. But it still works great I've tested and sold tubes with it on Ebay and never had a complaint. Selling my Vintage Triplett vacuum tube tester after it serving me well for many years. I just don't have the use for it anymore as I am not as active as I used to be in the antique radio hobby. This set is in excellent original condition and even includes original hang tags and even has the original warranty card that was never mailed. My Dad had sent away for a manual from the Triplett company and he was fortunate enough for them to mail him back a photo copy of the manual that is also included as well as the mailing they sent for other products. I bought this at an estate sale several years ago just as you see it. With no lid. This Is a Working Unit with no apparent issues. I had to replace the wire wound resistor due to a bad spot on the winding(I will send it and the three clamps with the unit) I looked all over but never was able to find an original one as shown in the picture. I replaced it with a shorter but larger in diameter resister of close to the same specifications as the original. It's been some time, but I believe I was able to achieve the voltages required for proper calibration from the three taps on the replacement ... moreresistor. As you can see the cord needs replacing. As I said this is a working unit and just before putting it on eBay I tested a tube known to be good,it fell exactly within the parameters it was supposed to. (Hickok) Military TV-2C Tube tester, Excellent operating cond. Cal checked
This is a nice Military TV-2c(the lastest version) in excellent operating condition. And good cosmetic condition. This is considered by some to be one of the best testers based on the Hickok Gm circuit. I've gone through the complete cal check(there are a few errors in the procedure) and added a few checks of my own. Everything checks out fine and I've tested a bunch of tubes(see the list iin the c/o sheet(last 3 pictures) This includes spare tubes(83 and 6X4) The screen supply rectifier's(6X4) heater is on a winding of the plate/ screen transformer. This causes screen voltage drift as a result of changing the plate fine adjust. This issue is nicely resolved by changing the screen rectifier to diodes, I made a 7 pin plug-in adapter for this. Every switch, pot and meter operate fine. The case has the usual dents and scrapes and ... moreif you're fussy it could use a paint job. The interior and front panel. Including the knobs and meters, are in excellent condition. The roll chart in the lid works very smoothly with no binding. The original manual is in good condition. There are a number of manuals(operating and test) manuals available on the BAMA site: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 and Shipping will be by UPS for 56 lbs from 91784. The dimensional weight rules(UPS and USPS) for the box are what determines this shipping weight. This will require a 24 x 24 x 16in. box for safe shipping.
