Vtg HICKOK 209A VTVM Vacuum Tube Voltmeter Capacitor Tester METER Capacitance
Up for auction is a vintage Hickok model 209A VTVM and with 7 capacitance ranges. In“for restoration” condition. It powers up, both the center zero and‘end’ zero functions work fine, measures 9 volts DC as 11 volts on all DC volt ranges, and Ohms also works but inaccurate readings- so this Hickok needs some attention, but is a great start to a restoration project. Very large meter, the glass window itself is 6” X 8” and meter needle moves smoothly and evenly throughout entire range. Physically in what I would call VG condition, all knobs original and fine, front panel VG too but has a few paint drips, and some paint flaking off of metal meter frame. Cabinet with no dents. Antique PHILCO 421 TUBE TESTER Very Early 2-Digit Radio TEST METER Vtg DATA BOOK
Up for auction is a very early Philco model 421 tube tester with operating instructions/ data book and carrying case with leather handle. Tests only the very early 2-digit and octal radio tubes. There are sockets for 4-pin thru 7-pin and octal types, and no test sockets for 7- or 9-pin miniature tubes. In working condition, powers up and the Line Adjust meter(to the left of main meter) works and lights up fine, internal tube lights up fine, but note that I have not tested further as I didn’t want to have powered up for long as all circuit components are original– capacitors, dogbone resistors, etc. Was a high end tube tester in its day, with 3 transformers and lots of components inside. Vintage Allied Knight Tube Tester Triplett Meter Old Radio TV Octal Big Pin USA. SOLD AS-IS. This is an old Knight tube tester as sold by Allied Radio. It was made in the USA and while I am not sure of the date I would guess it to be late 1950s. There is no model number on it. Though it appears very similiar to 600 series units I have seen. This vintage unit tests 4, 5, 6 and 7"big pin" tubes as well as octal, loktal, 7& 9 pin miniatures. It is not setup for subminiatures, compactrons or nuvistors. The case measures approximately 14"x10"x6" The unit shows some normal wear and tear, the worst damage being a slight bend to the pointer on the meter(see photos. I checked a few tubes with it and found that some seemed to work fine but others did not show any reading at all. But I believe it reads"Jul 25 1945" Solid wood case; very weathered on the exterior. And handle replaced with rope. It did it's job of protecting the contents. The ends of the wire leads for the tube tester both have cracks and chips out of the plastic. No problem, just use a little bit of care when using them. Power plug was damaged. It is replaced. And the fuses were moved inside the cabinet. Internals all in very good shape. No crumbling wires. Corrosion, or loose solder joints. Analyzer/ Meter tried out with both an AC and DC power source and works. Ohm meter works with the low ranges. The R x 10.000 range for the ohm meter won't work until it gets 2- 7.5 volt batteries or the equivalent. Here is a vintage meter for the series 920 Electronamic tube& set tester made by the Precision Apparatus Co. of Elmhurst. NY. It measures decibels, AC& DC voltage, ohms, tubes and diodes. It measures 4.625" wide by 4.125" high. It has mounting screw centers of 4" by 3.625" The mounting hardware is included. It has a nice black bakelite case with no cracks, chips or hairlines. The glass cover is in nice shape as well. It has a screw adjustment for zeroing the needle on the front. This would make a great replacement for your non-working meter! Eico 666 Tube Tester. I plugged it in and nothing happened. I have no way to test the unit. The fuse looks to be good. I can't tell if the bulb is good. Or not. Everything is complete except for the rubber ring that protects the power cord. I did retape the paper to the rollers and that works fine, now. The case has rust, scrapes, and scratches. I have decided to part with my 539C very reluctantly(serial# 396-00941) but it needs to see more use than I give it these days now that I have the at1000. This tester has been recently serviced and calibrated in Jan 2012 by Kara Chaffee and has a brand new production glass front meter bought from Roger Kennedy(receipt included for both) the original meter was the newer square plastic one(the kind you do NOT want) and this is a later model tester with the smooth face. Comes with original manual. Obsolete and foreign tube charts. This tester functions in every way and quite well, specs on tests have matched my at1000. I am including a vintage pair of headphones to use with the noise test function and a DC mA meter to plug in to the plate current jacks when reading this measurement. This will not be cheap but will be fully double boxed with ... morethick hard Styrofoam and fully insured against any damage that may occur in shipping. I will not accept returns on this but check my seller feedback and you will see an extensive history of service including multiple testers sold. This is the tester you want and ready to go so do not hesitate, I see these every so often and some have sold for way more just because the case is mint and shiny even though they have original meters that are prone to failure with age and have not been serviced. The cost of the meter was $200, installation was $100, and service was about $125. Hickok Military TV 3B/U Tube Tester- Powers Up- Needs Meter or ?
USN Military HICKOK TV-3B/U Tube Tester. In very good cosmetic condition. This acquired from the estate of a radio repairman. Conditions were not the best for some of these pieces. This one seemed to fare well as far as oxidation goes. though there was a bit of sandy dust I've cleaned from the interior. Changed the 100uf& 1 caps after noticing meter would not deflect under slow power up. Can not get meter to work even after changing rectifiers. Suspect meter is shot, but could be something else? NAVSHIPS manual is readily available online free to troubleshoot further. Included is what I believe to be all the extraneous odd tube socket and VOM connectors. These will be pulled from side of unit and shipped inside power cord storage compartment for safety. Roll chart works well with some nudging. Hickok Tube Tester/VOM meter
HI All! I'm not sure what Hickok this is from. I know that it is NOT from a 533. 534 or later. I'm guessing that it is from a 510. I found a model number down inside the meter face that says AC-51X. The meter does work and it test 285 ohms as you can see in the pictures. I will ship this any way you want but I'm quoting USPS flat rate Priority. This is small and light. This is a nice. Clean meter. The movement operates smoothly w/o sticking. I do not know the original specifications, I can only report that it has been tested and the following was found. The resistance is 1,200 ohms. The sensitivity is 90 micro amperes for full scale deflection. So, if you need a replacement meter for your tester then consult the manual for the meter specifications. TV-2 Tube Tester Percent Quality Digital Meter 0-150%
This is a TV-2 Tube Tester Percent Quality Digital Meter. I made a few of these a few years back and this is the last one. The TV-2 Percent Quality is almost impossible to find now and if you find one. It is expensive. The original percent quality was 100 uA full scale, 250 ohms, and scaled 0-150. This meter will read 0-150% with the proper shunt and series resistors. You will have supply a 150 ohm shunt and 100 ohm series resistor. I used ¼% resistors for the best accuracy. Also a 9 VDC supply will be required for the meter. I mounted a 9 VDC AC adapter inside the TV-2 and wired the primary to the TV-2 On-Off power switch. Please see an example of one TV-2C/U testers with this style of digital meter. Please be advised you will have to supply some common parts and do some minor wiring.
