Military TV-2B/U Vacuum Electron Tube Test Set, w/manual. Great Condition
For sale. Top of the line, Military TV-2B/U Vacuum Electron Tube Test Set with manual. This set is in great condition as the photos clearly show. Indicators, sockets and control panel look beautiful. Has a three prong plug too. I purchased this 20 years ago and when it arrived. Went into dry, desert storage as I was working overseas at the time. 20 years later, it's still sitting there. I purchased it from Tucker Electronics. Who at the time had just gone through it and calibrated it(NIST) I never put power on it. There are a few light dings to the case from previous use during it's life but nothing to effect its function. The only thing to note is that the two test cables(red and black) with the clips on them got old and need to be replaced. Their rubber coatings are dried out and very stiff. That's why the price is low. Those ... morecables with clips can be easily found in multimeter kits or at Fry's Electronics or similar. Etc. and are easily changed. I lowered the price 200.00 because of that, so get it here cheap. If it were me, I'd remove the existing red and black cables and replace them with female test sockets and use fresh red and black cables with clips and male bananna jacks to make it easy to service in the future. Other than that, it looks great. Test chart moves when the thumbwheel is turned. Includes manual and Tucker's inspection sheet. Old cal sticker from them still on the case(see photos) Being sold as is. No returns. I'm selling it here cheap and it's priced to move fast! Don't blink on this one or it will be gone! It was made for the navy by Radio Frequency Labratories of Boonton New Jersey. I took the cover off to take pictures of the internals. Of course it is built like a tank, the way the military used to have stuff built, built to last. I did power it up and confirmed that the transformer is good. AN/USM-3A Military Test Tool Set w/ TV-4, super!
Wow. THE super military test and tool set! This one is almost complete, many of these I have seen are missing tools and the various measuring wands, etc. This one has a TV-4 A/U tube tester that works great, the manual(often missing) the signal tracer module, the three measuring wands, the signal generator wand, the headset case with heatset, AF& RF probes and many connector leads, the soldering iron and tips(often missing) the capacitor and resistor substitution bricks, light bulb and holder and the 4 test set leads. Now, for the tools, all are there EXCEPT the side cutters, two screwdrivers(one present is not original to the set) a couple of Allen wrenches, 2 alligator clips and a couple of pin plugs(2 out of 5) The original electrical cord is missing, I am including one that works but is a little hard to get into the side of the TV4, ... moreplug spacing is slightly larger, but I have used it successfully, the caps in the signal tracer have NOT been replace and would need to be either replaced or brought up on a Variac if the signal tracer is to be used, and the cord to the soldering iron is crackly and frayed. Jun 13. 1969(on housing& tag on handle) Stamped Rockwell on inner lid Untested with lots of corrosion in various areas 18" x 6.5" x 9.5" outer case measurements Condition Description This offering is for a vintage traveling wave tube test set in preowned condition with many signs of handling over the years on the outer part of the case. Inside has corrosion in many areas but the rest of the components are in excellent cosmetic condition. Unit has a wield smell to it due to the corrosion. Handle on the case is spring loaded to close to the case when not used. Pulled from a family members closet which is where it has been stored sine the late 70's.
