Heathkit TC-1 Vintage Tube Tester w/ Carry Case
This may be Heathkit's first tube tester. And a fair amount of thought was included with the design. An additional hole is provided for future socket addition, and it checks for emission, short, opens and fil continuity. It is also provided with quality components for the time. A 6SN7 test is shown in one pic. However the short lamp is generally on too. This may or may not be normal, the manual isn't arranged to address dumb questions- like mine. Roll chart is the requisite 1-1-66. An update booklet to 1-1-69 is included. Chart works freely, a tad tight near the end. The tester has turned off twice(line adjust reading went to zero) momentarily then returned to normal, no attempt to determine cause. Wiring is neat and clean, some of the sockets are not oriented as the manual shows but the pins are wired neatly and correctly. Meter ... moreface is clear, has one short tight age crack at the zero adjustment. Switches and controls were cleaned. Original owner(and seller) had inserted the TC-1 into a carry case padded to provide proper fit. This has protected the unit from the effects of long-term exposure reasonably well. A poor quality but complete copy of the manual is included. Along with the update booklet. Sold as-is. Not working since I haven't verified the short lamp status. Vintage test equipment in used condition. Has scratches and cracks on the meter cover. Missing/wrong screws on face plate. The carrying case shows signs of wear but overall good condition. The units is a bit grungy and could use a cleaning. The paper reel is intact with no tears but the thumb dial hangs up a bit in certain spots. Testing: Unit powers up. The line adjust works. Tested a few known good and bad tubes on the 9-pin socket only. It"passed" the good tubes and"failed" the bad ones so it appears to be somewhat functional. Instrument is not/has not been calibrated so accuracy is not known. That is the extent of the testing that was done. Comes with a supplemental test data sheets from 1962 and 1963. Heathkit IT-21 Tube Tester- Nice! Accurate! HAM Here's a nice. Clean Heathkit model IT-21 tube tester. It has all the sockets you've been looking for to test the tubes in your vintage radios. It'll test those older 4-pin, 5-pin, 6-pin, and even 7-pin tubes, as well as the later 8-pin Octal, 8-pin Loctal and the 7-pin and 9-pin miniatures. It also has sockets for both 5-pin and 7-pin Nuvistors, 9-pin Novar tubes and 12-pin Compactrons. The 9-pin miniature socket has an additional center pin to also accept 10-pin miniature tubes. The test circuit of the IT-21 is identical to Heath's later models IT-17 and IT-3117, and the earlier"TC" models, and the test data for these testers is also usable with the IT-21. To ensure accuracy of a newly built kit. Heath didn't provide any calibration adjustments for this model ... moretester, relying instead on the inherent accuracy provided by using close tolerance components in the measuring circuits. All the components of this instrument have been checked for accuracy and found to be well withing their original specifications; and this TC-3 is working as it should on all ranges. It is shown in the second photo testing a new 6L6GC tube. The tube, of course, is not included in the auction. This instrument is especially nice. The workmanship is impeccable and very neat with proper layout. The connections and solder joints are professionally done. And it even has the little"extras" like laced wiring not usually found on a kit instrument. The workmanship of this instrument is as good as I've seen on any electronic instrument- even the expensive professional stuff. The interior is free of corrosion or other damage, and the face of the tester is also in very good condition. Heathkit TT-1 Tube Tester for HiFi Audio + Guitar Amp ★ NO RESERVE ★
Up for auction is a rare Heathkit TT-1 tube tester. The unit comes complete with the user manual. As well as the original construction manual. Overall, the unit is in great physical condition. The faceplate sparkles with hardly a scratch on it! The outer case is somewhat faded, but the cloth is intact with the exception of on tear(see photos below) Some of the metal hardware has a little rust, but nothing too serious. I actually owned a TT-1 a few years back. And loved it. It's a great tube tester for someone who tests common audio tubes(6L6, 6V6, EL34, EL84, 12AX7, 6SN7, etc) The unit powered right up as the previous owner said it would, however, some of the knobs were very stiff, and a few would not turn at all. They will need to be cleaned and lubricated before the tester can be used. Vintage Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21, very good condition, fully functional
Up for auction is a Heathkit Tube Tester Model IT-21. This tube tester is in excellent cosmetic condition. There are minor scuff and scrapes on it. But nothing out of the ordinary for a vintage piece such as this. There is a knob missing on the lower right side and on the bottom of the unit the caps on the A& L levers are also missing. It is missing two foot pads on the left side and also on the back side it is missing one foot pad on the top left side on the back of the tester. Other than those few flaws, this is a very clean unit that has been tested and all knobs and switches and plugs& plug-ins appear to function properly. I was not able to test every bulb socket because I did not have all the sizes, I did have 7 different bulbs a few different sizes and each worked so I assume all the other sockets do too. Meter, sockets, knobs, roll chart and all switches and controls are in excellent condition and operate, as they should. Will test 4, 5, 6, 7(large) octal, loctal, 9 and 7 pin miniature, sub-miniature, Nuvistor, duodecar and novar tubes. Will also test pilot light bulbs. Socket-savers are mounted on the octal, 9 and 7 pin miniature sockets. Roll chart is spring loaded to keep chart tight and flush to window and may be operated from either side of panel. Chart rolls freely from end to end with no binding. Meter and chart are lighted when tester is on. Vintage Heathkit Mutual Conductance Tube Tester. Model# TT-1. Works great. Calibrated on 02/24/2013. Comes with a copies of the instruction and tube test set-up manuals. It also has a built-in roll chart for test set-up. Test sockets for: 4, 5, 6, 7 pin early type tubes, 8 pin octal and loctal tubes, 7,9,10 pin miniature tubes, 9,12 pin novar and compactron tubes and 5,7 pin nuvistor tubes. All switches, controls and tube sockets were cleaned. All capacitors replaced. Newer roll chart window, good power cord and grid cap leads. This is a very high-end tube tester. Great for matching audio tubes. Tests amplifier, audio, hi/fi, stereo, radio and tv tubes. The tester shows some age. But is in overall good plus condition. The case covering has damage. but case itself is good.

This is a Heathkit TC-2 tube tester. Very easy to use and known for reliability. The TC-2 will test 4, 5, 6, 7(large) octal, loctal, 7 and 9 pin miniatures. Will also test pilot lamp bulbs. All knobs present and all controls work, as they should. Illuminated roll chart is in good condition with no rips, tears or tape. Included is schematic, supplemental tube data, users guide and an extra roll chart. Will test vintage, military and modern types including all popular audio tubes. Grid/plate cap is in great condition. This tester has been refurbished and capacitors/ diodes were replaced. All resistors were checked and several were replaced. This tester is very accurate and tubes shown being tested were tested in a known calibrated Hickok 539C tester and gave the same results with the 12AX7 being marginal and the 6L6 good. As a bonus you get the 9 pins novar socket silver bathed contacts and use the auxiliary port for this and also you get an extra chicken head knob functional with set screw. Cable fine. Meter works, cabinet was re-finished, handle works, lights work, neon light works, switches working fine, chart intact and works. Inspected for mold. Heathkit IT-21 Tube Tester Must See 7868 6550 EL34 6SN7
This is a model IT-21 tube tester made by Heathkit. It is in excellent condition and is working very well. This will test 4. 5, 6, 7 prong older tubes, 7, 9, 10 pin miniature, octal, loctal, nuvistor, 9, 12 pin compactron, and pilot lights. Some of the tubes this will test are O1A, 6l6, 6550, 12AX7, 7591, 45, 50, 71A, 6SN7, and hundreds more. Notice the 3 tubes I tested with this tester. I even tested a known weak EL34 and it tested bad. All filament voltage selections on the switch were tested. The plastic window has come un-glued over the tube chart roll. I will include this if you decide to put it back on. Tester front panel shows a little normal wear. Case looks great. Unit is un-restored, and un-modified. I don't know how to fully test this. We do anything household normally. I don't even have a old tube to test it with. There are some instruction papers that are chewed up, there is a Brochure book for 1958 Heathkits. There are three fold out papers with diagrams on them. Heathkit Mutual Conductance/MICROMHOS Tube Tester model TT-1 and TT-1A w/manuals Built in 1973 As you can see in one of the pictures below. I tested a 12AU7 vacuum tube. It tested alright/good but when I tried to calibrate this tester, I couldn't get the proper calibration reading. There were three calibration steps to perform but in the very first step, the meter didn't fluctuate as specified in the instructions. I don't know if I was performing the calibration properly as instructed or not. when I turned the pot that was specified in step one of the calibration instructions the needle didn't fluctuate as it was supposed to do. HEATHKIT TC-2 VINTAGE TUBE TESTER VG + CONDITION WORKS, NEEDS ADJUSTMENT
HERE'S A VERY NICE TUBE TESTER AT A BARGAIN PRICE. It does need some knowledgeable TLC however. As you can see this tester is in VG+ to excellent original condition. Case is fine. Roll chart exceptional. All lettering. Knobs, etc. mechanically OK. No loose switches, etc. Inside the unit is very clean and shows no signs of shop abuse, such as smoke or being left on continuously. The mystery is it will test some tubes exactly as you'd expect and some it doesn't! It may be a poor solder joint or a switch contact that I've overlooked. Moreover, I've given it a general cleaning and inspection and still haven't located the intermittent problem. As mentioned the roll chart is smooth and still very white indicating low use. The meter is in fine shape with no signs of abuse and few scratches. The transformer shows no signs ... moreof rust/corrosion and runs very cool and quiet. Untitled Document When it comes to tube checkers Heathkit has to be one of the go to names. I have tested this with a number of tubes. Including 12AX7s and it reads correct every time. That being said this little unit can do a lot of tests on a lot of different tubes and I have only tried a couple. The good news is that mechanically everything appears to be in good shape. When testing the switches and knobs all of the detents are crisp. The only obvious flaw is that two of the knobs on the switches on the bottom are missing and there are cracks in the insulation of the tube wire. The scrolling tube chart is complete and readable but there is some yellowing of the paper. Fortunately, because this unit was so iconic there is a lot of info available on them including schematics. Heathkit TC1 Tube Tester Dynamic Checker Vintage Audio Radio
Available for sale is a Heathkit tube tester. Model TC1. The unit appears to be complete(with the exception of the plastic selector knobs) and in decent cosmetic condition for it's age. Take a look at the photos below, and I think you'll agree. This unit was acquired from a gentleman who used to repair/restore older tube radios as a hobby. It has been several years since he has tinkered with any of these. So I cannot say with any certainty what the current operational status is. I have not attempted to power this unit. Heathkit Checker TC-1 Vacuum Tube Tester This tester is in relatively good condition but is in a state of disrepair. The reference scroll chart has come undone from one spool. The electrode lead has many cracks in the covering and one of the toggle switch knobs is missing.see photos) The unit powers up and will give a clear reading but how accurate it is is unknown.
