B&K 747 Tube Tester. Low Hours, Excellent Condition 747 is a very good tester. It is a mutual conductance tester. And always holds calibration well. This is a very portable tester. Sometimes the tests that need to be done don't require sophisticated analysis the real requirement is weight and reliability. It's 13 pounds. The TV-7 weighs 19 pounds and a clean low hours example costs at least twice as much, maybe more. The 747 us a usefull instrument to have on hand. Most vacuum tube hi-fi equipment lovers have more than one tester for a backup. This example appears an accurate low hours example. There is no finter tip wear on the the usual places. Controls do not feel loose as the result of considerable use. Cabinet is clean and smooth with no scratches. Dings, or discoloration. This is a nice working BK 747 Dynamic Mutual Conductance Solid State Tube Tester. All Switches. Pots, and tube sockets were cleaned and/or tightened. Caig Deoxit was used to clean the contacts. Bulbs for the heater and overload are good. The plastic over the meter is clean and free of scratches! Meter movement is nice and smooth Several known tubes were tested to ensure proper operation of this tube tester. The hinge is tight to open and pops when you do open it. External metal hardware shows some surface corrosion that can be easily cleaned. We have sold and shipped over 50 tube testers over the last 15 years. Not one has ever come back and every customer has been delighted with their testers! This tester will be shrink-wrapped in white foam. Bubble wrapped and packed tightly in foam peanuts in a sturdy box.

The tester hadn't been used in many years. But I was told it was operational. Upon testing a 12AX7, the tube filaments lit up perfectly, but I found the meter to be unresponsive. With this in mind, I am selling the tester as-is for parts or repair. I cannot say with any certainty what work is required to repair this unit. On the plus side. B&K 747 Tube Tester..excellent cosmetic and operating condition!!
This is a VERY nice unit! Fully tested showing 5Y3. 12AX7 and 6L6 tubes during test. The results matched up with a calibrated TV-7 tube tester. Good operating instructions and tube setting charts in the lid. The only cosmetic or operating flaws I could find were a few scrape marks on the outer case. All controls operate smoothly and crisply like a new tester. The chassis underneath is very clean also. This is a very easy tester to use, and produces consistently good results.

Good working mutual conductance tube tester. Calibration has be checked and found to be well within factory specs. I have sold many tubes on ebay using this tube tester with zero complaints. The outside of the case does show shelf wear and some sort of paint stain. Please look at pics carefully before purchase. If this is acceptable to you, please continue reading. The inside shows very little wear and works well. Please note that he previous owner etched his id numbers on the face of the unit in two places. B&K 747 PRECISION DYNA-JET TUBE TESTER + ReCapd + CALIBRATED &Full Scale 12AX7
From my personal collection. Here is a mutual conductance tester you can be proud of and count on for decades to come, a beautiful refubished restored and calibrated B&K 747. This one is originally from State of Connecticut, Dept of Education and has clearly not seen much use. Very well kept and super clean, no rust nor corrosion to be seen. Last of the 747 testers, late production date on this one is July 1982(as seen in the closeup. This 747 was very recently fully calibrated(adjusted according to B&K procedures- shorts detection threshold. Leakage circuit, and grid emmision circuit. Then checked and/or adjusted for correct signal voltage, DC bias& balance, DC plate voltage& DC screen voltage- again according to B&K procedures. Importantly, the electrolytic caps were all replaced with USA manufacture Illinois caps. This ... morewill assure the new owner of stability for decades. Resistors were also checked and/or replaced for correct values. This 747 does not need to be 12AX7 modified. Test results read full scale on the meter now. Uses test buttons 1 and 2 to check both triodes so no need to reset any switches to read the other triode within. Try that with your Hickok, no can do. Automatic line adjust circuitry too, no more line adjusting for each tube type. Truely exhibits ease of use when testing many various tubes at one sitting. Photos are not generic 747 pictures. As you can tell, and the winner will receive the exact beautiful unit pictured. This 747 is not for the average bench, rather for the discriminating buyer who wants beauty, dependability, and accuracy all wrapped into one premium tester. Time was spent carefully cleaning and polishing the tester face plate. Not that it needed it much. The excellent condition outer case was also gently cleaned. Check the pictures for shine and reflection. Lid hinges& latches work smoothly and solidly, 100% good. Original set up chart is in the lid- nice. The only difference is the 747B has a circuit breaker and the regular 747 doesn't have a circuit breaker. The manual and the meter face both say/show 747. The two models are essentially the same except for the addition of the circuit breaker. B&K 747 CALIBRATED Tube Tester, VERY NICE !
You are bidding on a B&K 747 Tube Tester that I have taken the time to check it all out: apply contact cleaner(DeOxit) to critical switch contacts; inspect for any bad parts(there were none) spent the time to go through the detailed B&K calibration procedure; clean it all up and then use my"tried and true" calibration tubes(6AU6& 6L6) to VERIFY the tester is actually reading correctly(they were! I think you already know this is a"High End" Gm Transconductance. Totally solid state(no tubes) design, very simple and fast to use, test's about 96% of all tubes, including the audio 6EU7& 6K11 and pretty much ANY other audio tube. A copy of the manual, setup chart and the plate-cap patch cord, is included. FYI, the setup chart is dated 1981.
