These collar devices were worn by Enlisted Men on the lapels of the Dress or Service uniform jacket. Vietnam War era regulation issue US Army Signal Corps olive green utility shirt. Made of 100% cotton sateen. Has a nice early cut-edge Signal Corps Center and School patch on the upper left sleeve. Has all the proper OG buttons. Has black on OG US ARMY and Name tapes. Size tag in neck reads: 14½ x 33. Shirttail tag reads: SHIRT. MAN’S, COTTON SATEEN, OG-107. DSA code dated to 1966. Hand measured. I get the following measurements. Armpit to armpit measures 21 inches- Sleeve measures 25.5 inches from the shoulder seam to the cuff. ITEM DESCRIPTION: This item ships in a BOX- it might be a box inside a flat rate padded envelope. But it will still be in a box! This is an original period Great War. World War One, WW1, Pilot's Book, a log book they kept for training and after training. The original owner was Lt. Ernest L McClymond, who later became a beloved physics professor at Drury College in Springfield, Missouri. Of course, it shows signs of use, has writing, etc- it was a log book after all carried with him everywhere. It is signed by his commanding officer, Major Signal Corps" however I can't make out his name, and dated Feb 2, 1918. Indicates he went to the US School of Military Aeronautics at the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, and includes his'report card' Acted as a cadet from November 24, 1917 until Feb 2, 1918, graduated with ... morehonors. The very first page of the log book has written"Flying with the R.F.C" at the aerodrome. 17 pages are entered at the first part, and at the end there"total time March Field" and it is stamped thus, Aug 30, 1920 and certified by nd Lt and the Major(crossed out, Capt" added) Air Service Commanding. Moving on, the rest is blank until we get to the middle, where there are a few entries 6/22/29 notes of a flight. No further writing in book to the end. This is a great period item. In great shape considering. Original period item, used; cover worn, corners bumped, worn; spine ends some fraying; spine has some discoloration; original owner's name on front cover; binding great, pages bright and clean exc. for handwritten logs and approval stamps- about as good of shape as you will ever find considering the item. Threads used in insignia were made from natural and natural based synthetic materials. Natural and natural based materials generally do not glow when exposed to ultra violet(UV) light. Widespread Synthetic thread use began sometime around 1945 and is still commonly used today. Synthetic threads generally do glow when exposed to UV light. It is generally accepted that patches from the WWII era should be non glowing. Many of the patches made after 1945 and in the late 40’s and 50’s through today will generally glow. That being said, in some cases just washing the item in phosphate detergents can cause a slight glow reaction. It takes experience to know what is actual UV glow versus UV reflection or wash glow. All the original buttons are in place and the uniform maintains perfect coloration. The color is as new and the collar is still stiff and straight! It is a size 38 Regular. There is NO Fading and NO Damage to any of the seams. There are NO tears, but there are a few very small moth nips to the back of the coat. They are very hard to see and do not detract from the tunic when it is displayed as they are small and to the rear. The tunic also has some staining to the right cuff. I believe it could be dry cleaned and most if not all the stain could be removed. The original US and Signal Corps collar discs are firmly in place and in Excellent Condition. The left sleeve bears one Honorable Discharge Stripe and One Overseas Service Chevron. The right shoulder bears its original Signal Corps Sergeant's Chevron that is in Excellent Condition. The lining of the coat has no staining and the original tailor's name tag is still in the pocket. This coat was tailor made by Schoenbrun and Company of Chicago, Illinois. It appears to be complete but i do not know enough about it to be sure that is why i took alot of pictures so someone who is familiar with this can see if its all there. It appears that all of the tubes are inside it and the top still clips on and off very easily. Up for sale is a vintage Signal Corps Analog Multimeter TS-297/U Serial No. 41686. Manufactured by Industrial Television. Inc. The meter is very old and has usage and age wear. There is stress cracks around the gauge area near wear the mounting bolts are. There is also discoloration from age. The leads that came with Meter are very worn and the insulation is chaffing and will not be included with this items purchase. The buyer can purchase a new set of test leads from any Radio Shack or equivalent electronics supplier. I have tested this Meter myself by checking the D/C voltage on a D battery and the gauge shows 1.5 volts( see photo) which is the voltage capacity of the battery. I also tested continuity and resistance works perfectly for an analog meter much to my surprise( but then again it is American made) I did not measure amperes(current ... moreflow) due to the condition of the test leads. This is a great item for a Military collector or a vintage electronics collector. I have a degree in electronics and I have never seen or used such a durable meter. TS-9-AJ on the Handset and 66191 K.S.S.M.F.I. and 1B Sig 193 on the Phone Box. The cord is attached to the Handset. The Crank is attached. It takes two Batteries. I do not know if it works or not. This is an old signal corps piece- thin metal with white. Blue and yellow painted design. It is like a small button but it doesn't pin, instead it has a tab that you press to clamp down. Maybe for a hat? I am not sure. It is slightly brighter in color than it looks in the photo. It is quite old and found it by chance caught in the edge of a drawer in an old desk. It measures approx 7/8 of an inch across. If you know the date and what it was used for please let me know! It is in very nice condition considering it's age no dents or bad scratches. it even has the original light on top front. it has two cords plus the power cord. has the original army signal corps rectifier power unit.RA-133-B serial# 3848 made by Bright radio laboratories. all glass tubes light when power is turned on it is missing the turn latches on the lower front panel it is untested other then my powering it to see the tubes light up. I consider the overall condition to be good to excellent. A s with all used electronics that I sell it is being sold and purchased in(as-is) condition. The Banner was not cleaned and is sold in the original condition found. HISTORICAL NOTES: Camp Crowder was a military installation named in honor of Major General Enoch H. Crowder. Provost marshal of the United States during World War I and author of the 1917 Selective Service Act. The camp, located south of Neosho, Missouri, was established in 1941. As it was constructed, it was re-designated as a U.S. Army Signal Corps replacement training center, an Army Service Forces training center and an officer candidate preparatory school, the first of its kind at any military installation. A fine set of World War I US Navy/USMC binoculars. 6x30 power, made by the'U.S.Naval Gun Factory Optical Annex Shop, Rochester, NY' They are also marked, siginal corps u.s. army, 6x30, These binoculars are in exceptional original condition. The optics are fine and clear with sharp focus and all controls are fine. The metal parts retain 95% original clean laquer with light high edge wear. The original leatherette covering is in excellent condition. The original leather case is in fine condition with the interior clearly marked, U.S.Naval Gun Factory. The case exterior retains nearly all its original finish with age patination, some staining, and light edgewear. A'Crown Optical Company' compass is mounted on the top of the case lid. The compass appears to work; its glass cover is perfect. The historical U.S.Navy Gun Factory ... morebinoculars saw heavy usage in WW-I and after the war aboard US Navy ships and with USMC detatchments all over the world.This set is in far better condition than usually encountered and would be a fine item for the military or nautical collector.
