We have a used 4520 John Deere tractor with 4wd and loader. This tractor has 1050 hours on it. Weather was very cold when I took these pictures and we had not been able to wash and wax it. Seat is torn in pics but we are installing a new one. This tractor has the PowrReverser. It uses three ranges. Four gears, and a reverser to provide 12 speeds in each direction. The tractor must be stopped, and clutch depressed, to change ranges. The gear can be changed while the tractor is in motion using the clutch. Rare 1969 John Deere 4520 Cummins V8 Repower
1969 John Deere 4520 Cummins Repower V8 300 Horsepower Side Console Dual Hydraulics Syncro Range Transmission. This tractor was one of two purchased new by a farmer in ILL. Both were 4520's The first one he installed the Kinze Kit and repowered with a Detroit and this one he installed the Cummins Repower. When I bought the tractor. It was needing an engine overhaul. I decided to go with a brand new engine. I spent along time searching and finally found a complete New Old Stock Government Military Surplus engine still in the crate. The engine is a 1969 300 Cummins V8 which is the same year as the tractor. I ordered new gaskets from Cummins, new starter, belts, hoses, thermostats etc, Tractor has a larger custom built radiator to keep up with the big V8 engine. So we took it out and had a shop rebuild it to new specs. Previous owner had ... morereplaced some of the gears in Syncro Trans. I had the flywheel resurfaced and a brand new heavy duty John Deere clutch installed. Two brand new Interstate batteries and brand new John Deere battery boxes. New John Deere Steering wheel and center cap, decals, seat, emblems etc. I purchased and installed a brand new Original John Deere Rops for the tractor. Which at the time was the only new one left in the United States. Also bought a brand new canopy top from Saginaw County Tractor at the same time. All brand new matching Goodyear rubber on the tractor. New front heavy duty 8 bolt wheels with new Goodyear Dyna Rib 16.5x16.1 four ribs. Brand New 20.8R38 Goodyear Dyna Torque II radials on replacement rear wheels. Brand new John Deere front weight bracket with 6 front suitcase weights. Tractor has a 145 lb weight on both rear wheels. Custom Stewart Warner gauges for water temp, amps, and oil pressure. Tractor shows 3,596 hours on original working tach. All sheet metal is excellent on the tractor. Up for auction we have a 1965 john deere 4020 serial number Snt233r095298r. I bought this tractor with the intentions to fix it up and I just never got around to it. Nor do I have the time. The tractor turns over and has good compression but I haven't tried to start it. It is going to need some fuel line work. A fuel filter, and the oil cooler that goes in front of the radiator. The last owner told me that it got parked because the oil cooler went out on it. So it is going to need attention on that side of things. The transmission shifts into all of the gears good and the clutch moves as it should. It has a rockshaft. It came with a set of lift arms for it but they are rough as pictured. It has the original toplink bracket that is usually missing. It has a pto and hydraulics. It is missing the seat bracket, all of the seat suspension ... moreis there tho. All of the tin work is what I would say is rough. It could be fixed but it is in tough shape, it's as simple as that. It's dented and would need straightening. The knee is good on the right side. But the left hand knee has been broken and repaired in the past. If I was going to restore it I would get an after market knee for it since they are available. It has the correct Highcrop oil pan and radius rods. The radius rods need some work aswell. The rear drops are in good condition with no breaks or welds that I could see. The rear tires hold air, but the fronts are junk. They will need to be replaced. So As you can see this needs some tlc and could be used as is again or it could make a nice restoration project. It would even make a good parts tractor for the Highcrop parts to be transferred over onto a 4020 in better shape. If you have any questions feel free to give me a call at 815 901 2231. Up for auction I have a 1969 john deere 4020 side counsel model serial number T213r 215136r. The tractor starts up instantly without the need of ether when it's cold out even. The motor has good power and seams to run out good. We've been using it around the farm for random tasks and it always operates as it should. The steering works good aswell as the clutch and brakes. The transmission shifts into all of the gears as it should. The tractor has dual hydraulics. It has a factory rops and canopy in good condition except for a square hole in the canopy that could easily be patched and you would never notice that it was there.
