What a Great tractor. DIESEL is the only way to go. This 172 CU.IN engine(62.6 HP) with 40 HP rated at the PTO was Top-Of-The-Line in its day and is still more tractor than anything you can buy in its class. This thing can pull 3(14 inch) plows. Power Steering, Live PTO and starts every time. I have owned this tractor for the last 15 years and have had zero problems. The select-o-speed(10 Forward Speeds- 2 Reverse) transmission is the only one in this vintage or earlier tractors that has a slow enough ground speed to run a tiller, all manual 4/5 speed go to fast in low gear. Ford 8N Tractor Late Model with Side Mount Distributor
Here is a good running little Ford 8N tractor. 1951 year model with side mount distributor. It is not perfect but not bad for a 63 year old tractor. It had a restoration done about 4 years ago with a complete engine rebuild. New Pistons. Sleeves, Rings, and Bearings were installed and I traded for it shortly after that. It has very good oil pressure and does not smoke at all. It starts at a touch of the switch and has lots of power. Since I have had it. I installed a new Carburetor and linkage, fuel Sediment Bowl assembly, Three Point Hitch, Tachometer, Steering Wheel, and upgraded the oil filter to a spin on style for easy oil changes. I have the old filter assembly if you want it. I also put on new Front Tires and rims. The left rear tire is nearly new. The right rear tire is very old and has a slow leak but still has some tread left. The ... moreengine block has a crack on the left side from freezing many years ago and has never leaked since I have owned it. Both rear axle seals are leaking a bit and need to be replaced as well as the PTO seal. But the tractor is usable as it is if you don't mind adding some fluid occasionally. The hydraulic lift works but is not very strong as it will only pick up 200-300 pounds. The pump should be rebuilt if you want to lift heavy implements. The seat is incorrect and not in good shape. Both Headlights work. The sheet metal is good without any rust through and has the Ford script on the sides of the hood. The steering is tight and operates very well. It has a 4 speed transmission that works properly. All in all if you want a good little tractor cheap and don't mind some tinkering this is the one to get. I used it on our country estate for a couple of years for cutting the grass and scraping the driveway and it never let me down. 1989 Ford Model 1520 Tractor
Upgraded and time to let the old Ford go. Single owner tractor that has spent its life so far being the utility tractor for a camp in Southwest Michigan. It is a model 1520 with just over 5000 hours on it. We are selling it with a model 7108 loader attached just in time to start moving snow piles. This tractor has 918 actual hours on it. It has all new hydraulic lines and two cylinders have been rebuilt. It could use paint and new decals witch both can be found here on ebay. All the hydraulics work very well and it runs well. The backhoe works well. The loader is very strong and dumps out faster than any other I have had or ran. The 4 wheel drive works well. It has a new battery purchased about three weeks ago. The cold assist switch is missing but starts in cold weather with a squirt of starter fluid. The tires are filled with antifreeze so this machine is very stable and strong with the added weight.This was owned by a school district before my buying it last year.
