This is the very rare original D. J. Gale Drop Calendar Astronomical clock( not the reproduction of it that sells regularly on Ebay from China) It is the earliest Gale Drop perpetual calendar clock made(pre-no. 1) as described and identified in Ly's Calendar Clocks, no. 94, p.48 with the painted on zinc 12 inch dial, with the case height 30 inches. The later models had paper dials. This unique five-dial clock keeps time. Maintains days of the week, days of the month, sunrise-sunset, and the moon phase. It is an eight-day spring clock which strikes on the hour. One of the unique aspects of this clock is that it compensates for leap year. This is considered to be an unusual and highly collectible clock with the rosewood case and the original black paper darkened but still visible inside the case. I just had this clock cleaned and serviced ... morewith five new bushings added to ensure good working condition for the future. It keeps accurate time. The clock works are original with the engraved name"E. N. Welch Forestville CT U.S.A. and Pat. date of"Aug. 30, 1870. The Patent date on the ring around the dial says"July 5, 1870. Ly indicates that the patent date on the clock works refers to the B. B. Lewis club tooth escape wheel(p. 55, no. 114) There is also a patent date on the dial which reads"Gale's Patent Feb. 14th 1871" Condition: This clock is in excellent running condition and should provide years of good service. One flaw on the dial is a small piece of the paint is missing on the left side(see photo) It also appears that someone in the past has tried to make some of the upper numbers more visible on the sunrise, sunset dial. The case is in very nice condition. The bezel has been re-stained and a new decal has been added to the glass. The estimated value of this clock is $8000 to $12,000. A clock dealer in Massachusetts is currently offering the same clock for $9500.

Early Square Piano ca. 1820 for Restoration (harpsichord fortepiano clavichord)
Early square piano. Ca 1820. All keys present and intact, but action missing. Case is deteriorated on pinblock side of instrument, will require considerable rehabilitation. Legs and pedal(it may have actually had a kneestop) are also missing, as is the nameboard. Piano is marked"Reboul" on the soundboard and once was a Warner Brothers prop. Along with another square piano I had many years ago by Kirkman, which was featured in the 1954 book Old Pianos by N. E. Michel. This piano may also be featured(in better days) in that book. Although I no longer have a copy. Although a card that came with the piano attributes the signature of"Reboul" to the maker. And therefore of French origin, the country of manufacture is unknown. The Kirk silver company. Of Baltimore, Md. had its origins in the very early part of the 19th century. It was founded in 1815 as a partnership, but became Samuel Kirk and Son in 1846. The mark on this graceful creamer dates it to between 1846 and 1861 according to references. All the elements of this jug or creamer reflect an earlier simplicity of form. Each detail rather exuberant in its shape. Its lip and foot are picked out with fine beading, which is matched in a graduated form at the topmost handle attachment. The interior planishing shimmers beautifully, as does the interior of its attached square foot. This terrific booklet has 32 unnumbered pages inside the front and back covers. The booklet is bound with two staples. It has 16 photographs and lots of information about the hotel, its amenities, fancy rooms, kitchen, employees, etc. The Hotel Borg was opened on May 25, 1930, according to the information inside. The booklet was picked up as a souvenir of a US Navy pilot who was staying in Reykjavik for a night in 1944, on his way to Europe. The booklet is in very good condition with minimal wear. VERY NICE* OLD WWII VTG Ca 1940's US ARMY OLIVE DRAB VISOR HAT CAP This offering is for an original 1940's WWII US Army Visor Hat Cap. There is no size tag present. However, the inside diameter of the hat is app. 21 3/4" which equals a hat size of app. 6 7/8 or Small/Medium. The condition of the hat overall is very nice with the original hat badge, buttons and strap all still in place. There is a stain on the top of the cap that we have not tried to remove. The leather strap has some edge wear and has been repaired towards one end. The leather bill is excellent, the leather sweat band was sewn in four sections and the stitching has come apart at each joint. The hat has no markers markings left and the original tag from the crown is missing. Over 120 people died and property damage was over 50 million dollars. During the 1930’s that was a lot of land to be valued at that price. The US Navy, Army, National Guard and the local organizations pitched in to help. Long Beach. Compton and Huntington Park were the worst hit and these same areas felt after shocks for many more months. Fortunately the US Navy Pacific Fleet had just returned to their home base in Long Beach Harbor after a six months’ cruise. The Navy sent much supplies& 2000 Sailors and Marines ashore to start the recovery process. The Army& National Guard followed& set up food kitchens. These are some of the original photos from the back of the US Navy 1932/33 ... morephoto album. Each listing will be different photos. Just the paten is marked sterling and weighs 106 grams. Overall height of chalice is 8 inches. The paten is 5 inches in diameter. In overall good condition with minor wear to gilding and scratches from use as seen in the images.
