This is a wonderful piece of sheet music. Composed by a local composer and copyrighted 1921 Chas C Overbury. At first we thought this may be a man's folly, something that he did and self published but have found that his music found its way into compilations of music from various composers including the compilation"California-Hawaiian Souvenir collection of songs and views" published in 1919. This consists of the title song CHEERO and a second shorter piece entitled SUNNY SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. Published in 1921 by the artist's own publishing company located in the City of San Jacinto California. Nice condition. A little yellowed from storage over the years. Found sandwiched between the back cover and last page of an old scrap book. the scrap book had deteriorated and its cover and pages were crumbling. The first plate is colorful with a lovely pix of the observatory in the center. The plate is 6.5" in diameter. It's marked Imperial Crown China, Austria. The second is a charming cameo plate in olive green and white. It features a relief image of the observatory with decorative flowers around the edge. This plate is 6" in diameter. Real photo postcard shows the controversial inter-racial couple in San Francisco. California who were a great scandal in the early 1900s. Ella Mae Clemens, sister of Mrs. Howard Gould and member of one of the country's richest families, was shunned from San Francisco's Society 400. Mr. Mrs. Wong Sun Yue Clemens are shown- he, in traditional dress, stands on a block, or step. Next to him is his wife with a cross around her neck and a fancy hat on her head. Between them is what looks like a collection box, which says, Hong Sing. Patterned Jan'y 6, 1907" followed by something in a language I can't make out. They are identified by the writing on the bottom. Inlaid Mittenwald Violin, ca. 1830 for Restoration labeled Ruggeri
A good old violin in structurally good condition but unfortunately re-varnished or possibly over-varnished. Mittenwald work. Ca. 1830-1850 with a spurious Ruggeri label original to the instrument and typical for work of this period and location. Beautiful inlaid back with the classic Latin motto, In silvis viva silui; suaviter. Iam mortua cano. No cracks. Needs attachment and fitment of fingerboard as well as setup. Varnish situation could likely be brought to an acceptable state by rubbing and polishing in order to reduce volume and surface imperfections. Good color and transparency. Original neck has been augmented at the button. Return it if you don't like it.
