Northwood, started out as employees at the Hobbs-Brockunier glass company in Wheeling, West Virginia. Both companies were kingpins(along with Fenton) of the carnival and opalescent glass market in the early 1900's. Mould-sharing was apparently not uncommon between Dugan and Northwood. Northwood closed its doors in 1925. Dugan also closed its doors in the 1920s. Condition: This set is in very good/excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, chiggers, flea bites, or restorations. There are. Of course, the usual manufacturing facets to point out, e.g. the internal air bubbles and the straw marks(shearing tool marks) all commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old opalescent, carnival, and EAPG. Till& Sons. England. The scalloped edge of this platter is outlined by scroll embossing. The platter is printed with a dark edge in which appear bouquets of small flowers ... moreand ferns which are highlighted with gilt. The tendrils from the bouquets enter the well. All of the photos in this listing are the actual photos of the platter. The platter is in very good. Antique-used condition without any chips, cracks or repairs. It shows signs of use such as utensil marks which is to be expected for a well-loved antique platter. The marks are more visible when you hold the platter in a certain position under the light. Due to the age with appropriate wear. Most of the gold gilt on the platter has been rubbed off. There is fine crazing all over the platter including underneath. I enlarged the spots on the photo and posted them for you to inspect. See the photos Due to the age. Technique, and high glossy glaze on flow blue, the crazing is prevalent on most antique flow blue ware. Other than that. This late Victorian flow blue platter is still beautiful and shiny with a high lustrous glossy glaze. There are a few tiny dots/rough spots on the edge of the rim of the platter. However. This was a trade name used by the Roth shop for violins exported to to USA. Roth made several models. And this is the best I've ever seen. They were all purchased together in Germany and are all similar in scale. California. Dated January 2, 1903. The account of J.S. Cain Co. was showing $3,577.45 as of Dec 31, 1902. Document is a single piece of paper. 5.5” x 8.5” printed and written on one side only. GOOD condition. There are a couple horizontal creases and a vertical crease from where the document was probably folded to fit into a small envelope, there is a small pea-size hole to the printed letterhead, a crease to the top margin, toning to the edges, still solid and bright. The historically maintained HOUSE of J.S. CAIN is a major attraction of BODIE State Park. About JAMES STUART CAIN(from Wikipedia) James Stuart Cain arrived in Bodie when he was 25. This item is a set of 8 Gorham Sterling Silver'King Edward' pattern. Ca. 1936, ornate 9 inch dinner knives, with the knives having a sterling handle and a stainless blade, and with the knives in excellent overall very lightly used condition. Upon extremely close inspection, one can see a few very slight usage marks, but there are no obvious flaws, and the set apears new-like to the casual observer. No monograms, no significant usage scratches or marks of any kind, nor are there any other flaws. Each knife is marked'Gorham Sterling Handle, Stainless Blade' on the blade, as we are showing in the attached images. Gorham introduced the King Edward pattern in 1936, according to sterling flatware reference books, and the pattern is very ornate and heavily decorated, as one can see from the attached images. circa 1914-1923 A set of 3 bent wood chairs bearing the original paper labels"Mundus and J&J Kohn Ltd. and crafted in Poland. These chairs are unique in that they possess a solid wood curved top rail. Sunburst pattern seats. Common for the period, are in excellent condition. Chairs appear to have been refinished recently. And there is evidence of one minor repair under the seat of one chair(barely worth mentioning) Label certifies that they are pre-1923. Or pre-Thonet merger. We will ship to U.S. addresses only.
