Here is a rare Systron Donner 8150 Time Code Reader fro m the early'70s that uses nixie tubes for its display. The s ticker in pic#3 shows a servicing in 1974 and the da te codes on the chips are mainly 1972. It's a former Navy laboratory surplus piece. Three digit serial number so there weren't ever many of these around. I would guess. I bought it years ago to use as a clock because I like interesting timepieces. Worked fine back then but now it doesn't set right. The far right digit can only be set to 0. 4, or 8. A lso. When you set the knob to GEN, the time advances but the seconds count off fro m the tens of seconds digit. The minutes and hours change but the days do not advance. I am no expert and the only thing I did to try and fix was to re seat all the plugin circuit boards. Didn't work. Almost all the boards have ... moreheavy gold traces. The 5991 nixies are all bright. Three Datum 9100 Time Code Generators
These were donated by Datum to the school I was working at more than 10 years ago. They quickly determined that they did not want them and were going to throw them out so I got them because as the beginning of my electronics engineering career I worked designing equipment like this and knew the quality AND big $$ at the time. All appear to power up OK except the top unit has one LED that does not work. The top unit has a back plate missing and may be just a parts unit. The middle unit has a lot of BNC connectors so likely they have many different timing code outputs such as IRIG A. B, D etc but certainly has not checked but if all is OK then you get a very good deal. Nothing other than the power up has been checked. The bottom unit has a few BNC's as well but likely has parallel BCD time of day from the large connectors. None of these ... morehas power cords since I used the one spare cord to power up each one individually. Each unit weighs just over 10 pounds so the shipping weight should be about 38 pounds. Unit operates on standard 110/ 120VAC power(can operate on 220/ 240VAC by changing jumpers on primary of power transformer) It can also run on an internal Gel cell rechargeable batteries(BATTERY is not included) or external DC power of 12 Vdc(Minimum) and possibly higher voltage. You connect an IRIG-B input on one of the BNC connectors and it will display whatever time is fed to them(HH:MM:SS) Included is a pair of power cords. These are circa late 80's. But still work great. Draw very little power. As you can see from the internal pictures there's not a lot on the inside. NOTE: One of the unit's has a couple spots on the display.
