HP Symmetricom 58503A GPS Time and Frequency Reference Receiver
Here is the HP Symmetricom GPS Time and Frequency Reference Receiver in very nice condition. It appears to be working properly except for one thing. This seems to have the GPS week rollover flaw. After 1024 GPS weeks elapsed it returned to the beginning date and now shows a 1995 date. I believe this is why the previous owner wrote BAD on the cover. Other than that the time is correct. The date increments as it should and the 10 Mhz and 1 PPS outputs are correct and accurate. I have included a printout of the status screen from SatStat for your reference. This is a later model as it has an 8 channel GPS rather than the 6 channel used in the first shipments. I will include a CD with documentation and the SatStat50 program on it. From my research on the internet. The firmware in the actual GPS receiver board is responsible for the date not displaying ... morecorrectly. This appears to be a Motorola Oncore board so a replacement or a firmware upgrade might be in order if the date function is critical to you. In the pictures. The handle is used to raise the front up for better viewing. It can also be folded back for the unit to lay flat, also shown. The GPS antenna was not connected during the picture taking so the GPS lock light is not on. The 58503A has been on continuously for over a month with the OCXO locked to the GPS signals and everything looks correct, except for the date. I strive to offer tested and working equipment.
