This auction is for 80 broken/damaged fishing rods. All of these rods have broken tips. There are spinning and casting rods. Many medium action. Many of these are broken near the top and could simply be retipped and fished with. Some are broken further down near the handle and are good for parts only. There are also quite a few ultra light rods which could be retipped. Many of these rods have never been used and still have the original plastic on the cork handles. There are 80 rods total, you will receive exactly what is in the photos. The photos are each of 1/4 of the rods. The first photo is of 20 rods and the 2nd and 3rd photos are close ups of those rods. These old molas have had an encounter with a bleach bottle. They are old but still have their mystic. You get a bargain. I was just a youngster when my mother took me with her to visit a friend. It was probably in the early 1950's and I was only seven or eight years old. But I remember it like it was yesterday. You see. This woman we were visiting had a wall full of framed molas. And each one was better than the last. I remember staring at them one by one as my eyes walked over the wall. One particular ... moremola was in the design of a spider's web. Each strand vibrated with color and design and hypnotized me with its exotic beauty. I could hear my mother's voice but it might have been a thousand miles away. I was busy falling in love. As the years passed my passion for the colors and design of molas abated. Like most boys I turned to sports and wheels. And to my parent's relief I eventually started listening in school and enjoying books. When I graduated from college there was a war on so like everyone else I wound up in the Army. But unlike everyone else the Army was nice to me. They send me back to Panama where I grew up. And the Magic of mola came after me again like a warm tropical breeze. Everywhere I turned there were molas and the smiling faces of the wonderful artists who create them. When I wasn't busy saluting I was admiring and buying molas and making friends among the artists. The years passed quickly. The war ended and I left Panama for additional schooling. 82nd Airborne Vet Bringback Battle Damaged British Paratrooper Smock Denison
Let me start by saying that I lucked into a few airborne items yesterday by stopping in for an ice cream at Rite Aide. One is for sale in another auction. BSA Parabike) I have seen an older gentleman every Monday afternoon for months sitting out front. Eating an ice cream, and wearing an 82nd Airborne hat. I have said hello to him for months, and got up the nerve to ask him about his hat, and the 82nd Airborne. Well. Long story longer, he jumped into Normandy as well as Holland. He fought the remainder of the war in Europe. He talked about how scared he was jumping into Normandy, but he had a job to do, and that the heroes were still over in Europe. As a history teacher I was very happy to sit and listen to his stories. When I told him I was a teacher he invited me over to his house, and showed me his war stuff. He had an entire room filled ... morewith paratrooper stuff. Uniforms, knives, etc. As it turned out he was a very good collector of items during the war, and sent a lot home when he could. I was asked back again today. And given more of his stuff to sell for him. I have no reason to doubt his stories. But as such, this smock is sold as is, as pictured. He told me that while in Arnhem. Holland during Operation Market Garden, his unit was in the same building by a bridge as a British Airborne unit. During a fire fight, one of the British paratrooper was hit by a mortar round, and was dragged into the building by his buddies. My new friend said their medic helped the soldier, and when the smock was taken off and thrown away, that he grabbed it and threw it in his pack, to use the material for other items later. Well. As he put it, the smock traveled with him for a while more, and when he was able, he had it cleaned and sent it home a keepsake for his family as he realized as the war progressed that such items might someday be important. He asked if I would list it for him. As he no longer has a use for it, and it only brings back some bad memories when he looks at it. The tag says Smock-Denison(Airborne Troops)
