I put it in my hand and the temperature started rising and went past 90 degrees and then I quit because I didn't want to wait all day. I grabbed a bottle of frozen water in the freezer and the temperature readout started going down. I got it to 32 degrees and stopped. Seems to be working, but I have no idea how to make sure it is really accurate. Comes with the needle probe I used and there are two more that comes with it, but I didn't check those out.
