Serial number AN139036, has been professionally disassembled, cleaned, lubed, adjusted and comes to the winning bidder ready to sew. During servicing the bobbin winding tire, motor bearing, and all four rubber feet were replaced. Mechanical condition is excellent and produces a beautiful straight stitch. cosmetic condition is good. There are paint blemishes in the following areas- Needle scratches in the bed, a couple of nicks on the top cover. There are also some chips in the bed paint caused by the over tightening of the button holer feed dog cover plate. The 404 is the successor to the famed 301 and shares many of the same internal components. Just with the convenience ... moreof a drop-in bobbin, which makes it perfect for quilting or general sewing. A beautifully style die-cast aluminum frame provides rigid support to the all steel drive train housed within. The internal, direct drive motor, has ample torque to power through your heavy projects, and finesse to sew fine light fabrics. The slanted angle of the needle and presser foot bars, from which the term slant-shank refers, moves your project closer to you, providing clearer view of the sewing surface. An elevator style throat plate is actuated with a lever, allowing the plate to be raised above the feed dogs for darning and free motion work, or quick removal of the plate for cleaning. I recently purchased this from an estate auction. It was in a sewing cabinet but I took it out for shipping purposes. A very powerful and versatile Zigzag machine. Includes pedal. Heavy duty motor, original manual and part numbers list, and a box full of accessories. This is a heavy duty cast iron well built sewing machine. I had this machine looked at and it was lubed and tested. It sews straight and even. The zigzag knob does turn and it does switch to zigzag sewing. The knob is a bit stiff however. There really is no problems with the machine at all. The light also works. I left the original cabinet hinges attached to it so it can be installed in a cabinet again easily. This machine is cast iron and very heavy. Which is why the shipping costs are high.
