The wooden wing is also in very good condition and the metal wing is is in fair condition with surface rust and corrosion on parts of it. Neither wing was original to the case but both were added to it while it was in service at the post office. The case measures 72" wide. 75" tall and 20" deep on the desk surface. The coils are tight and solid. All spindle backs are tight and in very nice condition. The arms have some scratching but cover nicely with polish. Up for auction is a gorgeous old vintage sterling Zuni sterling and stone on stone mosaic(no silver channels in between) pin. It is quite old. The stones are turquoise. Spiny oyster, jet, and mother of pearl. It is in great vintage condition considering its age. The pin weighs about 18.5 on my postal scale. It is 1 5/8 inch tall and 1 7/8 inch at its widest. Vintage OLD Fred Harvey Period Turquoise Sterling Bracelet
Up for auction is an old vintage sterling Fred Harvey era turquoise bracelet. It has a large greenish blue turquoise stone. The shank is split into 4 sections to the behind. To the left and right of the stone. There are many stamped designs on the sides. The turquoise stone is 3/4 inch wide and 7/8 inch long. The braceIet is a little over 1 1/4 inches tall at the center and tapers down to a 1/4 inch at the ends. It weighs about 28.3 grams on my postal scale. There is a wonderful dark patina which I will leave. It could be shined up if desired. It is not marked sterling. But most certainly is. It is not signed by the artist. The inside measurement is about 5 3/8 inches with an additional 7/8 inch gap between the ends It could be carefully widened by a competent jeweler. Vintage Hand Crafted Slide Caliper - 72" long - Stainless Steel
Description*THIS ITEM IS BEING SOLD"AS IS. AS DESCRIBED" This is a very nice hand made slide caliper made by a master machinist. He was an older gentleman that used it for many years in a foundry in Pennsylvania until he retired and the foundry shut down. It is very well made and built to last in thick 1/4" stainless steel and 72" long. It does have some surface rust pitting on the head but not very deep. Lapping might remove most or all of it. This is a great tool for a Engineer, Machinist or Fabricator that works on a larger scale. The scale begins at 12" and goes up to 52" in 1/4" increments but the inch numbers end at 40" The sliding head is 1/2" thick and moves with no slop or play at all and has a threaded hole for a stop or hold screw/bolt but is missing. The jaws are 3" deep and 1/4" ... morethick and meet perfectly. A vernier scale or nice engineer's rule could easily be attached to the face of this for more accurate use than the existing 1/4" scale. Customize this and make it your own one of a kind useful tool. You are bidding on an outstanding antique African tribal Mangbetu female ancestor figure. Democratic Republic of Congo. First half of the 20th century. Size: 16" x 4" x 3.5" 41 x 10 x 9 cm) This large standing female figure with high flat hat. Elongated head, and geometric scarification throughout body embodies the Mangbetu ideal of female beauty. Provenance: Private California Collection. Linguistic patterns indicate that the Mangbetu originated from the northeast. Probably from modern day Sudan. As they moved southward they encountered Bantu migrations moving northward. They finally settled in their current homeland in the 19th century. This area had been occupied by the Mbuti. The Mangbetu intermarried with and subsumed many of the Bantu and pygmy populations they encountered. In the 19th century the Mangbetu Kingdom was ... moreestablished under Nabiembale and became the dominant political force in the region until 1880, when Sudanic and Islamic slavers entered the region, fragmenting the kingdom into sultanates controlled by Moslem leaders.
