I have this Powerstat varible transformer. Made by the superior electric co. In conn. It is a recent estate find. I tested this powerstat with a lathe. I also tested it by plugging in a light/lamp. Everything is in good working order. It is used. And it is a bit dirty from the shop it was in. It is in good overall conditio. Here's a vintage Calrad VC6 metered variac. This unit will give you variable voltage. 0- 150V, from a standard 110v outlet. The unit has two outlets on the back, both are labeled 2.7A. It has a nice analog 0-150v meter on the front, an on/off switch, an overload protection fuse, and a red power indicator bulb. The bulb is burned out(confirmed with ohm meter) and I don't have a spare of this type in my parts bin. I've plugged the unit up and turned the knob up/down and the meter responds accordingly. I ran a couple of oscilloscopes off the unit while set at 110v. The unit is on the heavy side. Lots of copper inside I'm guessing, so the shipping is going to run $28 to any of the lower 48. Vintage Motorized Light Dimmer with Staco Variac by Pilot Ind Controls MPLS USA
What we have here is a large vintage motorized Light Dimmer with large Staco variac. It was made by Pilot Industrial Controls Inc. MPLS MN, USA. I believe that it started its life as an early motorized light dimmer and is mounted in very nice metal box with a latch and swing out door that looks to have been bolted to a wall. The box is about 15 inches wide. 12 inches from front to back and about 10 inches top to bottom. There is a large and cool looking Bakelite knob on the front that attached to a large Staco variac in the box. The knob is designed to have a belt(don't have the belt) that’s runs to a pulley attached to a motor a little larger then a sewing machine motor. There are 2 relays mounted on the front of the cabinet and 2 movable clamps attached to the metal part of the large knob. By moving the clamps to differ ent locations ... morethe relays will stop the motor at predetermined voltages. I have two of these but the auction is for only one! I had planed on making a foot controlled variac but never got to it. While there is no reason this should work correctly. It is untested and sold as is.
