This is a James G. Biddle Co"Megger" megohmmeter insulation tester. Estimated to be from the early 1980s, in working condition but without recent calibration. The tag on the back states that it is catalog#70147. But investigating the website(biddlemegger.com) I have determined that it appears to be the same as#21805 and a n owners manual is there to download. A hand cranked magneto supplies 500 volts through the leads and the readout is scaled from 0- 500 ohms(o hms side) and 0- infinity(megohms side) With a switch to set the reading. Leads and case are included. But the leather case is in rough shape, needed a re-stitch and general TLC. The leads are about 5 feet long an d in good condition. And the instrument its elf is clean. It is missing the small cover plate for the ohms/megohms switch but the info is hand written on the meter. ... moreOther than that. No markings or engravings. I used th is for several years while surveying yachts and doing marine electrical consulting work. Great for determining if there is insulation damage to hidden wiring.
