The Model 107BR had excellent long and short term stability as well as spectrally pure outputs. It provides outputs at 5 MHz. 1 MHz as well as 100 kHz(currently quite elusive in the modern standards) and operates from the 115VAC line. The 107BR oscillator can be voltage controlled and it can be used in phase lock systems. I ran this oscillator in my Standards Lab until I took it out of service several years ago and it can be seen at the bottom of Rack 1 on my website. For many years I had a comprehensive Standards Lab which can be seen at my website and acquired many interesting timing and calibration devices. There were a number of“must haves” that I felt ought to be in my laboratory. Aside from the early General Radio Type 1100-A Synchronometer– a very early and quite wonderful tube unit– the Sulzer Model 2.5 and also the Model 5 were next on my list because they were for their time, particularly accurate standards, even by today’s specifications. Designed and manufactured in the 60’s, the specifications for these units were really excellent. From the Sulzer manual, they were capable of short term stability of a part in 10-11 th. Lucent RFG-RB 10MHz rubidium frequency standard and A.C. power supply
What you will receive is a fully tested and adjusted RFG RB 10Mhz rubidium frequency standard with a power cord. All you have to do is plug the unit into 100-240VAC. Wait a few minutes and you’re ready to use the highly stable and accurate 10Mhz output to connect to your counter, synthesizer, etc. to replace the so-so internal oscillator that are in most commercial units. These modified Lucent(AT&T) RFG rubidium frequency standards have 2 outputs of 10Mhz. The first is a buffered square wave that is connected to both an SMA connector marked“TP” and a BNC connector marked“J1” that are wired in parallel and this output must be terminated with 50Ω to preserve the waveform and prevent ringing. The second output is a clean sine wave connected to two SMA connectors marked“J2” and“OUT” and to a BNC connector marked“J4” All wired in parallel, ... moreand this output can drive at least 2 volts peak into a 50Ω load. The attached A.C. power supply outputs 24VDC regulated at 2A. After the unit reaches operating temperature the current drawn drops to about 0.5A. When the RFG is first powered up the“TP” and“J1” connectors will have a square wave output but it takes about 3 minutes for the Efratom rubidium oscillator to lock. Until the RFG locks. The frequency output at“TP” and“J1” will not be stable. About 3 minutes after the oscillator locks, the red“FAULT” LED will go out and the green“ON” LED will light. At this time the sine wave output will be enabled. This is a well buffered, amplified, and filtered signal that can be used for a highly accurate 10Mhz standard. When the oscillator first locks the frequency will be within about +/05Hz of 10Mhz and rapidly improving. After about 20 minutes the output will be typically be 10,000000.00000 +/0005Hz. After about an hour the RFG will approach its maximum accuracy of a few parts in 10 to the-11, typically within +/00005Hz. The output frequency of all these units have been adjusted to be within a few parts in 10 to the minus 11(10E-11) using one of my GPS frequency
