HP-5334A Frequency Counter with 10 MHz Ref In/Out on Rear Panel
For sale is this recent pull from service. HP-5334A frequency counter which was just acquired from a local defense contractor. It is clean, passes self-test, and provided stable readout of my home lab sig gen for a period of 1 hour. It also has a nice feature where the 10 MHz reference clock can be input or output via rear panel BNC. Other than the functionality mentioned above I cannot verify the calibration or other more specialized functions. This counter while clean does show slight signs of normal use and does have some rub/scuff marks on the covers etc from normal lab use. I purchased several of these counters and the unit you get may or may not be the exact one shown in the photo. But note they are all very similar in looks and operation. The DC504 is completely independent of any other equipment you install, so you can configure a compact/portable test bench with only the pieces you need. Module functions include a Frequency counter. A Timer for measuring time ... moreperiod, and a Totalizer for events. Front panel indicators include the following: 5 digit. 7-segment LED display'Counting' LED to show when the counter is triggered and active'Overflow' LED to show when the timer accumulator is off-scale. A reset button zeros the display The front panel BNC connector presents a high impedance input to the module. A trigger level control allows for a variable level of either a negative or positive slope. A label on the side of the module indicates that there is an RPM Measuring feature invoked by an internal switch. This is a feature I have not used. So I can't say much about it. TEK plug-ins usually have a plastic tab to lock the module into the mainframe. But the tab on this DC504 is missing. It could however be easily replaced if needed in the future. With a basic sensitivity of-33 to-23 dBm. Signals in the frequency range of 10 Hz to 520 MHz are measured by the direct count method. Signals in the frequency range of 500 MHz to 26.5 GHz are down-converted to an IF by a heterodyne conversion technique for application to the counter circuits. The unique conversion technique employed results in high sensitivity and FM tolerance in addition to automatic amplitude discrimination. The counted IF is added to the local oscillator frequency to determine the unknown frequency for display. This counter has Option 001. Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillator Time Base and Option 011. I cleaned all the stickers and residue off, added bottom feet and bails and I then added Option 001(High Stability OCXO Reference Oscillator) burned-in the instrument for 24 hours, and performed all the adjustments as outlined in Chapter 5 of the Operating and Service Manual: Power Supply Adjustments. This is a used Heathkit Frequency Counter model 1B-101 with owners manual and some old leads. Powers up fine- shows what you see in pics. It is untested and from the estate of a gentleman who spent his lifetime working on electrical equipment and took very good care of everything he owned as you can see from the pictures. This unit was in storage for many years but I see no reason for it to not work. Sales receipt indicates it was purchased in 1971 for $201.20. Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Watkins Johnson 565-3 Military/Surveillance Receiver and DRO-315 Frequency Counter This listing is for a Watkins Johnson Model 565-3 Receiver with a VH-103 Tuning Head(covers 90-260MHz) Note that that includes the FM band from 88 to 108Mhz– more on that in a bit. Also included is a Watkins Johnson DRO-315 Frequency Counter. Which is used to display the tuning frequency of the 565. The units are in very good used condition, some wear, but no serious cosmetic issues– see photos for details. Operationally, the 565 is working fine(I use it to listen to FM) and note that it includes a spectrum analyzer oscilloscope, which is working fine. The DRO-315 also works fine except for a glitch in its display: then first powered up, all LEDs work correctly, but after a short time, the 3 rd digit from the left ... moreremains on whatever number it started at. Regardless of the tuning frequency. All other digits work fine. Hopefully this will be a simple fix for the new owner, using the included documentation. The 565 has been modified by Charles King to add a multiplexer board, so FM radio can be received in stereo, and a pair of gold RCA jacks and an F-connector for the antenna have been added to the rear panel. An LED below the signal strength meter on the front panel indicates a stereo signal. These units are both built in ultra-high quality mil-spec fashion with maintainability in mind. Tools are custom mounted inside each chassis, and the covers are all attached with captive screws(so no lost screws) See the interior photos for a look at the high build quality. Included is a 1" thick binder of complete documentation on both the 565 and 315, including schematics. These are very solidly built units, and will be heavy(expensive) to ship.
