1930's Leeds & Northrup Model 4776 Resistance Calibrator Decade Resistor Box
This item is a Leeds Northrup Decade Resistor Box. Most likely manufactured in the 1930's or 60-70+ years ago. It still works great even after all that time. This fantastic piece of history would function perfectly as a conversation piece. Or on any electronics lab bench for"dialing-in" whichever resistance you are looking for, from 0.1-1111 OHMS! I have been collecting these items for many years so I have decided to sell all of my duplicates. This item was used in a university physics lab up until recently, and has been maintained and calibrated by our equipment curators, so it is in wonderful shape, and has been well cared for over the years. The multi-meter I used in the photo is the only one I have at home. It alternates between + or- 0.3 Ohms. Bliley Model 1A Crystal Controlled Oscillator Calibrator for Vintage Ham Radio
You are bidding on a vintage Bliley model 1A crystal controlled oscillator for radio servicing. Here's one of the handiest little pieces of service equipment for ham radio and vintage radio repair: A Bliley 1A crystal controlled oscillator. The large front dial selects an internal crystal at 175KHz. 200KHz, 262KHz, 370KHz, 455KHz, 465KHz, or 1000KHz. The selected frequency is then available as output, either as pure RF, modulated RF, or externally modulated RF. There's even a socket for an external crystal so you can add your own chosen crystal controlled frequency. Output level is controlled by a range switch and a continuously variable potentiometer. This instrument is very useful for aligning radios and calibrating oscilloscopes or other signal generators. This particular 1A is working on all ranges except as noted below. Photos ... more2 through 6 show the oscillator on the 175KHz. 200KHz, 370KHz, 455KHz, and 465KHz ranges. Output frequency was nearly perfect as shown on my General Radio frequency meter(not included in this auction) I also tested the external jack with a 455KHz crystal and that worked properly too. There are two issues with this 1A: First. The 262KHz crystal is apparently damaged, because on that range the instrument did not produce a consistent frequency. Second. At some point someone replaced the internal 1000KHz crystal with a 100KHz crystal and put a piece of tape over the last zero on the 1000KHz marking. The instrument works properly on that setting, producing 100KHz(see last photo) All of the crystals in a 1A are plug-in types except for the 1000KHz position. So if you need the 262KHz frequency it's just a matter of plugging in a new 262KHz crystal. The 1000KHz crystal is soldered in. So you can either leave that position at 100KHz if that's more useful than 1000KHz for you or replace the 100KHz modification with the correct 1000KHz crystal. It's not rocket science.
