Fun vintage sewing lot! Included are 18 loose buttons made of shell. Metal, and plastic; one celluloid replacement button on the original card circa 1950; and a neat spinning needle dispenser. The biggest button(approximately 1.25" in the top left is metal with a green glass cabochon center(hard to photograph) The rest are a mix of shell and plastic, including one small shell button with detailed designs(see botton left) The needle dispenser has some plastic broken off the back around the dispenser opening and has a needle caught inside, but is a lovely aqua color and with an intricate coat of arms design on the back. Some packets in this lot are full or close to full and some appear to have only a couple needles. None are empty. I think the packets with labels all originally held 25 needles. Great HELIX needle cabinet 18 drawers w original hardware---14468
I have sold a lot of spool cabinets and needle cases over the years but never had this case before. It is a needle case for HELIX needles. 18 drawers in all; 15 of them measure 2.25 wide. 10 deep, and 1.1 high. Two drawers measure 8 wide, 10 deep, and 1.75 high. The bottom drawer measures 17.25 wide, 10 deep, and 2.125 high. Note the neat numbering on the small drawers and the'Knitters' Darners' and'HELIX NEEDLES' notations on the larger drawers. Overall excellent condition with a very minor stain to the top of the cabinet. The finish is nice and smooth and ready for your home. Original pulls on all drawers I believe and notice the drawers were stained darker than the rest of the cabinet-pretty. I have taken a photo of the bottom of the case-Henry Pike? Son of St Louis MO manufactured the case. Overall size of the piece ... moreis 20 wide, 11.5 deep, and 14 high. Great cabinet and quite unusual. All the items came from the estate of a man who had owned a Electronic Parts& Service Shop in Hollywood during the 1960s- 1970s. All the packing boxes were stored in his garage for at least the last 25-30 years. He died about 20 years ago. I am not sure if these parts went directly from the shop into his garage. Or possibly he was also working out of his home. I am not familiar with electronics so I am not sure if they deteriorate with age, or possibly from how they were stored.
