Up for auction here is a fantastic antique 19th century wooden sewing box. It is dated 1880 on the bottom. It had tambour doors on it. But one of the doors is missing. The other door is missing the knob. The top is a little loose. Other than those issues, it's in very nice condition. These with the tambour doors are extremely hard to find. I don't see any chips or other damage. Normal signs of wear for a piece of this age. Finish is original and very rich. Measures 11 3/8" tall x 8 3/4" wide x 4 3/4" deep. Guaranteed authentic. Antique Wooden Sewing Case with Misc. Spools of thread Pre 1930's Hinged Lid
Here is an antique Wooden Sewing Box with a hinged lid on each side. It comes with the antique spools of thread that you see in the picture. The bottom on each side opens up with pegs that hold spools of thread. There is one peg missing on each side. The measurements are 10 1/2" Long X 13 1/4" Tall. There is some water damage on one end of it. And it has been repaired in a couple of places with tiny nails.

ANTIQUE 3 PART WOODEN BOX, THREAD HOLDER ? SEWING ? TREEN ?
This is a lovely old wooden box as seen. I`m not sure what it would have been used for but it does look nice. It measures 4 1/2" across and about 3" tall when assembled. It is comprised of 3 pieces, the top cover which caps a small chamber in the black section, has a hole in it that would allow thread or something similar through, the black section lifts off to reveal a completely hollowed lower section, the walls of which are very thin, this was made by a skilled craftsman i would say, no room for error in hollowing out the base. Just acquired out of a Private estate. We are able to offer this original ~ 1809 STERLING SILVER HINGED SEWING THREAD BOX ~. I believe that this would have original been designed to carry several different colors of spool thread inside, and you would thread the color you are using through the hole. Could have held a thimble and other small tools as well. It is hallmarked on the lid, base and side. The maker is THOMAS PHIPPS& EDWARD ROBINSON from London, and it has the London ~O~ date mark, for the year 1809. The maker's mark is T.P and below that E.R all inside of a four leaf clover type shape. It has a hinged top and a hinged clip on the side. The hinged clip on the side may be for a chatelain, although we are not certain. This little sewing box measures 2 inches across by 1 1/4 inches tall" in the closed position" and ... moreis fairly heavy, for its size, weighing 58 grams. It is in very good, all original condition with no damage or repairs. It does show some expected wear to the sterling surface, as we did not attempt to polish it. This very early and unique little sewing box, would make a nice addition to any collection. Antique Industrial Sewing Machine "Thread Holder" For Large Spools of Thread
This Industrial Thread(Spool) Holder was found at an estate sale. It was mounted on the work station of a very old industrial Singer Sewing Machine. It is made of very sturdy metal, has some paint chips with surface rust, but otherwise in good condition. As you can see in the photos, it will accomodate 2 large spools of thread. The top bracket height is adjustable, the holes in it can be used to route the thread to the sewing machine being used, or fasten it to a stationary support to make it even sturdier, the spool rests height is also adjustable. The bell shaped base mounting bracket has a screw to disconnect the rod, if you'd like to remove it when not in use. The Thread Holder measures overall approximately 8 1/2" X 3 3/4" X 24 1/4"H, the surface to mount the spool on is 3 3/4" diameter with a rod approximately ... more3 5/8"H. Description Two wonderful antique Victorian carved bone( cattle- Bos Taurus species) Anglo-Indian cotton or thread barrels. The barrels have been beautifully hand carved in distinct"barrel" shape with delightful turned banding detail to the side. The lid of the barrels have been beautifully inlaid with mosaic"Sadeli" work. Using tiny pieces of plain and stained bone, pewter and hardwoods. The barrel opens via the screw base to revels a spool fixed to the top, onto which thread, although the thread hole is missing(a mistake often made on continental pieces) The barrel would have been produced in India for the European/English export market. And would have been part of a large set of matching needlework tools(some of which I will also be listing) AGE The barrels date to the middle part of the 19th century. Circa 1840.
