He said that Mr. Calhoon had been an Indian Enthusiast ever since he first saw the Buffalo Bill Show in Europe when he was five years old. As a collector of fine Indian material for more than 75 years he acquired many rare examples of Anasazi artifacts including the unusual important water jug in this auction. The Anasazi were sedentary farmers who manufactured a wide variety of pottery for cooking or storage and most of the large utilitarian pottery pieces were undecorated. Water was very important and large jugs like the one in the auction were very important in daily survival. Sometime around the 1200 AD period there was an extended drought in the Southwest that caused the Anasazi to abandon their pueblos and relocate their villages eastward in search of water. When the Anasazi moved east in search of new homes. They left all of their pottery in place since they had no method to move this material. That is why all of the original Anasazi ruins are rich in artifacts and pottery artifacts were found in place just as they left them. The original owner of this large water pot said

Green Depression Glass Refrigerator Water Bottle Jar Ribbed Canteen with Lid
Up for bid is a green glass refrigerator water bottle with the original lid. Based on the straw marks and other minor imperfections typical to the era I believe this is depression glass. It is basically canteen shaped with horizontal ribs as pictured. It has no identifying marks. The black plastic lid shows some wear but no cracks or other damage. It functions perfectly. The bottle is 6 7/8" in height. 5 3/4" across the front at it's widest point and 2 1/2" from front to back. The glass is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches. i belive this to be a vintage army canteen but iam no expert you be the judge. The canteen seems to be in pretty decent shape with the exception of the cloth or canves that the bottle is in,the buttons are a little rusty and a small tear under the button, the canteen feels like it has a small dent in the back but you cant see it threw its canvas, i did not reove the canteen from it canvas to inspect it completly for i did not want to rip it or damage the material, again iam not sure what this canteen was for but i think military. buyer pays 8.00 shipping in the 48 states, no returnsthanks

antique rare 1800's handmade dovetailed metal wood water flask canteen decanter
this is a very rare. Big, antique, handmade, primitive canteen made late 1800's it is exquisitely hand hammered. And made very well. the metal walls are dovetailed together. And formed into an exquisite shape. it has a large mouth where a beautiful solid wooden cork plugs. It has great patina from age and use, and has some nice weight to it. the neck has beautiful handmade rivets which connects it to the body. the piece does sit upright. And the canteen has a nice tarnish/ patina from age. it is a very rare piece and very large. it measures 14 3/4 x 10 1/2 inches. it is in good shape. No big dents, it is handmade so it has hammered marks and texture. Here is a wonderful antique Acoma Pueblo native pottery water canteen with brown and red glaze decoration. This is fresh from a local estate. It measures 5" tall x 4" wide x 3 1/4" wide. It is in excellent. Original condition with no chips or cracks to the clay. There is wear to the paint around the brown spiraling decoration. It has an old $190 price tag on the bottom from when they purchased it at an antique shop. Pictures should tell the story. Buyer pays $15.00 for insured shipping within the US. Thank you.

Handcarved, Handcrafted Leather & Wood Water Canteen Southwest Decor!
Item is a handcrafted and handcarved wooden canteen or water vessel. The wooden vessel seems to have been hollowed out. And there are carved designs on the body of the canteen itself. I did not find any seams in the wood, so it seems that this was made from one piece of wood not including the neck or base. These parts were attached to the main portion of the canteen. There is a leather cover of sorts that fits tightly over the canteen which is held together by riveting. There is a leather carrying strap which is approximately 36" long with the middle portion being braided pieces of leather. The mouthpiece has a stopper of wood(also one piece) which fits into the mouth. The stopper is held to the canteen by a section of bronze colored chain. This is an interesting item that has a South American flair to it, but I am not sure of what country ... moreit originated from.or if it was made in the USA by an artisan skilled in this type of work. This piece is dated on the base of the feet with 86, so I am assuming this means 1986. That would make it 27 years old. There is also a signature by the craftsman, but I cannot make it out clearly. Measurements are 12" tall and 9" wide. Ask any questions you may have. I answer generally before 24 hours. Most often sooner. Antique Bear Brand All Metal Canteen- Square Shape Up for auction is still another of dad's treasures. this one is an all metal canteen with lid and metal ring for a carry strap. I don't have a whole lot of information about this canteen. But he thinks it might be something that used to be used in the military. Part of a field kit? Part of the equipment on a Jeep maybe? The flat bottom lead us to that conclusion. This canteen is in good condition. This particular canteen has a second cap under which is some sort of a valved opening. Size& Details 10" wide at base 9-1/4" tall 3" thick Both lids have BEAR BRAND stamped/ embossed on them Condition Slight amounts of rust but there are no holes in the canteen that I can find A couple of small dents on the faces of the canteen Some white"stuff" present(drywall ... moredust? old white paint? desert dirt? mostly on the bottom. It includes two dishes/cooking pans that measure 7 1/4" diameter; a cooking pot with cover that is is 5 1/4" diameter and 2 1/2" high; and a tin cup with handle that is 4" across and 2" high. It was rarely used and has very minor scuffing but is overall in very good condition. The vintage metal canteen measures 8" tall including the plastic cap. Which has a chain to prevent loss.
