Vintage 5 pound Metal Log Stamp - Logging-Timber-Woods-Logger LC/5 Brand
This is a vintage log stamp for marking the ends of the logs when the logger was felling trees. The brand is LC/ 5. Like many things of the era. It was made by using a 4 pound hammer and welding on the plate with the brand on it. The outside edge of the plate is a brass color. Also stamped into the log stamp it says: warning wear safety goggles on one side and on the other is the number 4, the number 2 and the number 80. This Vintage Warren Axe& Tool Co. Peavey. Cant Hook was made in Warren Pennsylvania. William Sager founded the company in 1893. It remained in business until 1950 when it was sold to Collins& Co. Collins continued to make tools at the plant until 1958 when they sold the equipment and property. It iis 58" long with a 44" wood handle and from the collar to the tip of the pike is 14" The pike 4 sided and is is 1 1/2" in diameter at the collar connection. The pike is 4 1/2" long. The pike fits tightly as does the handle. The hook is 11" long from the bolt connection to the point. The point is 3 1/2" long. The tapered handle is 2 1/2" in diameter where it connects to the collar and has a few little scratches and dents typical of a used wooden handled logging tool. There is a screw holding it on that ... moreis shown in the photos. The collar has the number 202 in raised lettering and is shown. I believe the handle is the original but can't be 100% sure. I bought this in Bovey Minnesota 4 years ago. I put a coat of Boiled Linseed oil on it at that time. It has a great look. I suggest this remain retired in a Logging Collection. These are usually found weather damaged. Very worn and rusty with cracked wood and loose handle and pike. and this one isn't. VERY OLD 29 in. SWAMP HOOK PAIR - LOG TONGS - BLACKSMITH FORGED ANTIQUE LOGGING
old pair of Swamp Hooks-or could be light Logging or Hoist Tongs-appear to be hand forged from 1/2 by 2 1/2 in. bar stock iron- each hook measures about 21 by 29 in. tall- some wear: overall rust. Tarnish and pitting-still likely functional. Free Local pick-up is an option. Out-of-country buyers are welcome. But overseas shipping is more. Thank you for visiting our site. Comes with the spike(peavey) Or can be used without spike(cant hook) From the tip of the hook to the bottom of the cant hook is 14" if you use the spike it is 17" There is a hole on the side to secure the handle.
