But overall most very decent. all are stable and firm no. loose handles. 1 with a little bent blade. some have more rust than others. Some are older, 2 look painted on blade there are marks rust and scratches. The first is a crosscut hand saw manufactured by H Disston& Sons in Philadelphia. PA. The teeth seem to be in very good condition and are VERY sharp. The handle is a very unique piece with a Celtic Knot design. Even with some internet research I was hard pressed to find another like it. I was unable to correctly identify the medallion in the saw handle but I would guess based on research that these would have been manufactured post WW II. The second saw is a curved typed blade that has no identifying labels. It is used for more easily cutting curved wood. These would be great pieces to hang up on a wall or ... moreare sharp enough where you could cut a 2x4 if you were so inclined. Condition: Vintage. Saw teeth are VERY sharp with very little wear. Blades have a lot of oxidation. Some wear to the handle and minor fractures. This listing is for two vintage Disston hand saws. The one saw has a 16" blade and the other a 16 1/2" blade. The blades are sharp and usable. The are not perfect but still look usable. They have some waves. The saws are ideal for those small jobs and store away easy in a tool box. The saws are vintage items and have scratches and blemishes as well as overall wear from age and use. The one saw has some blank areas with no teeth where it was held in a vise. This same saw has a small chip at the top front of the blade. The saws have overall wear on the blades. The etchings are very faint but parts can still be made out. The saws are older models with the small etching. The saws are being offered as collectibles rather then as daily users. TWO 1940-1947 Disston hand saws. D-8 & D-23 26"
I did some research on Google and found out how to date these saws mostly according to the medallions. They both date between 1940 to 1947. One is a D-8 with the D to the left of the 8 which has 7 teeth per inch or 7 tpi. It has a 1" medallion. Both the blades are 26" at its longest point. The other is the D-23 with the D to the left of the 23 and has 5 tpi. with a 13/16" medallion. Both have a lot of scratches. And scuffs here and there. The handles are faded. The D-8 handle has some minor cracks but nothing bad. The D-23 handle has a spider crack on top but the rest is good. I see no broken teeth anywhere. The D-23 has an 9 or a 6 stamped in the blade and the handle has a capital G E stamped into the handle. Only because of the age and wear on both of these saws they are being sold AS IS. Here is a good group of older handsaws in good working order. All have good wood handles and Warrented Superior medalions with eagles. There is a nice little panel saw that is 20" long and filed 12pt. I can make out Chicago and maybe 112 but thats all. There is a 26" marked King Philip that is filed 7pt cross cut. Last is a 26" blade filed 5 1/2pt. All have visible etches that might come back but all are usable with some tuning. A nice lot for the shop. For auction these two vintage Hand saw file guides. They are in as found condition. One is complete with the base. And the other is missing the base. There is a replacement screw that holds the file in place on the filer that is missing the base. There is nothing broken or repaired on either tool. 2 ANTIQUE DISSTON No.7 HAND SAWS Hand Sharpened
2 ANTIQUE DISSTON No.7 HAND SAWS Hand Sharpened Here are two quality freshly sharpened large handsaws. Both are Disston No.7 saw– the model that Disston started it all with back in the 1840’s. Now I know some people think when I put two saws together they are not good enough to sell by themselves– WELL THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE! The first saw I will describe is the lg. rip saw. This is an 1880’s 28” rip saw with the sunken in medallion. The beech wood handle is perfect with long flowing horns with white flecks in the wood that jump out. It still has little remnants of the paper label that wrapped around the medallion. This rip saw handle has the elongated opening in the handle to allow the thumb of the second hand to be comfortably introduced to allow more force when ripping with a handsaw. It was a patent by Christopher Eisenhardt. Patent#150,678 ... moreon May 12, 1874 and led to Disston’s use of the thumb-hole handle. The saw plate is huge with 7 ½” width at the heel and 2-33/4” width at the toe. It has the most delicate nib up front that is a wonder it never broke. The saw plate is clean and perfectly straight with just a little pitting on the back side. The etch is light and is barely visible. It took a light touch up sharpening jointing the tooth line following the slight crown from the factory. It has a plate thickness of.038 just above the tooth line and.026 up top so very little set was needed. It cuts fast and smooth in both hardwoods and softwoods. A good saw for use on a saw horse for men about 5’9” or taller without hitting the floor. Of course shorter guys may have developed an angled ripping so a 28” saw may work in their case also on a saw horse, but I would suggest a 26” saw. Also included is a Disston 26” No.7 crosscut saw made during the 1896-1917 time period. Like the rip saw this is a large crosscut saw with 7”+ width at the heel. It comes with the 5 original antique saws that were in the box at the time of sale. I assume the tool box is made of a hardwood because of the weight and dark patina. It has a handle on the top and on each side. It has a latch that a lock can be attached to. It has a few narrow cracks on the cover. It measures 32"l x 10"w x 9"h. It has a place to secure three saws and a compartment for a folding measuring tool. The measuring tool is included but it is missing a few sections. There are five saws. I am not a carpenter so look at the photos for blade condition. Local pick up in Johnson Creek. WI.Here are the dimensions on the saws: The cover saw measures 20" ... moreincluding the wood handle with great patina. The blade measures 12.5"l. The teeth are straight. Not rusty, and seem sharp. There is wood handled DISSTON saw that measures 24" with the wood handle with great patina. The blade measures 20" The teeth are straight. Not rusty and seem sharp. There is a wood handled SUPERIOR saw that measures 26" with the wood handle. The blade measures 22" and the teeth seem to be in good condition. There is a saw without the maker's medal. The saw measures 29" with the wood handle and the blade measures 26"l. The teeth seem straight and sharp. The last saw is signed FH UNION HDW CO TORRINGTON CONN. US and it measures 19.25 with the wood handle with great patina and has a 12" blade in poor condition. The good news is it is replaceable.

For sale is a lot of 3 saws. Two saws are Warranted Superior and the other does not have a name. Looks to be a logging saw! Longest saw is about 20" long. All saws are rusty and could use a good cleaning. One has someone's name on the blade in sharpy. One of the superiors has a cracked handle as shown in the photos. And the"logging saw" is missing some parts.

Nice brass Disston saw nut with two others and brass backs. The blade is straight and reasonably sharp and no teeth are missing. This is a handsome. Usable tenon saw with sought wear to one side of the top horn, but no cracks or breakage. About 16 TPI. D.H. Bishop& Co Cross cut saw with manufacturer's brass plate on the bottom of the handle. Blade is 24" longs sharp and missing no teeth. About 10 TPI. The front of the wood handle has been bruised from use and the top horn has been worn down. But this is a quality saw easy for use. 2 good old hand saws. Sharp! handles are good, one is missing a name button but that don't effect how it works! The Disston measures 26" just blade with handle it's 29" long x 6 1/4" at the widest part of the blade to 2 1/8 at the end. The one without the name measures, 25 1/2" long without handle, about 29" with 6" wide at the widest, 1 3/4" wide at the end. both are 8 TPI, good working saws.
