Pope Gosser China Green Swags Chains Roses Oval Pickle Relish Tray POP55 1902+
Listed is this oval relish or pickle bowl made by Pope-Gosser Pope Gosser of Coshocton. Ohio in their early years. The company was established in 1902 and the mark on the back does not have the country of origin under so it was probably made before 1891 up to 1921 when companies were supposed to be fully complying with the McKinley Act. Chad Lage in his"Pictorial Guide to Pottery& Porcelain Marks, Copyright 2004, attributes this mark to 1902. This bowl measures 8 1/2" long by 5" wide stands up off the table by 1 1/4" tall with the help of an oval collar on the bottom and has a fairly deep rise to the sides to catch the juices. It is unusual in that the shape is slightly asymmetrical as can be seen in the photo with the left side being slightly higher along the rim than the right. It is this way on both sides so perhaps ... morethis was formed with an early mold. The piece is made of light weight pure white vitrified porcelain with a decal of green scrolls and bells and yellow roses entwined on hanging garland swags with a light green feather garland all around the rim. A gold gilt line is on the edge which is 75% This pattern has been given an identifying number at Replacements Ltd. of POP55. There is some beige staining on an area of crazing in one of the narrow ends which does not go through the china but which does lead to a 1" old age crack that does go through and goes up to the rim. There is a 1 1/2" craze mark on the bottom which does not go through and utinsel marks in the center of the bowl. This is a rare serving piece belonging to an early old pattern and would be a welcome addition to your dinnerware pattern or antique collection. I try to describe my items accurately and very carefully and show detailed photos. I sell mostly used collectible dinnerware. Used collectibles and antique items, so it is to expected that minor use marks or normal age conditions can be found. I do accept returns but only if I grossly misrepresent an item. Islamic Brass Kashkul Beggars Bowl Near/Middle East - 8" across and with chains
I think this is a 19th century piece. It is in good condition and has a set of chains. But I'd be surprised if they were original. Over 8" across at its widest point and approx 5" deep. So a fair sized thing. One one side a standing man is surrounded by birds. Goats, and, plants. On the other side a seated man- the same chap? is surrounded by three birds and a goat.

A stylish arts and crafts brass lantern. Made by Faraday& Sons, dating from the early part of the 20th century. The lantern is stamped F& S and the number 51 on the base. It has a brass frame with a frosted glass cylindrical shade. Complete with four brass chains and brass ceiling hook. It measures 5 3/4" tall with a 5 1/2" diameter. There is a tiny sliver/chip along the inside of the bottom rim of the shade. Otherwise it is all in good antique condition. This stylish lantern would look great in any period interior.
