You could use them for pole climbing but not on a regular basis. metal parts are in good condition and they are adjustable in length. They are set at the shortest length possible right now and they are 15 7/8" set that way. The calf pad for the left spike is not original. It is just a piece of leather and is not padded. I bought these from Honey Brothers in the U.K. These are identical to the ones sold by Sherrill except the fiberglass pad reinforcement is black instead of red. I used them to climb a birch and an oak and they are in excellent condition. I never walked on any hard surfaces so the aluminum is in excellent condition. These are the most comfortable and lightest spikes I have ever climbed– I used to own buck titaniums and the Gekcos blow them away. Comes with a brand new Buckingham Gaff Sharpening kit.
