Vintage "Bell Systems First Aid" Kit
This is a really neat vintage Bell Systems First Aid kit. I'm not sure of the age of this set. So I guessed on the category. The green metal case is 9 by 6& 1/2 inches and it is a little over 2& 1/2 deep. The contents include 13 cardboard packages of various items such as compress, bandages, little bottles of antiseptic, little bottles of creosote burn wash, roller bandages etc. It also as misc loose items items(see photo#6) It has two nice latches(see photo#10) The metal container is in good shape for it's age, there is a rust spot on the bottom(see photo#9) US Buyers only please. Western Electric Bell Systems Vintage Telephone 208 E5 208 Key WE 302 F1 Handset
Up for auction are TWO Vintage Western Electric Bell Systems Telephones. I obtained both of these telephones from a storage unit. The gentleman must have worked for Bell because I found several vintage telephones and other Bell memorabilia. I have two Kellogg wall telephones I will be listing soon. The one on the left of the main picture appears to be a WE 302 model. Circa 1941- 1958. F1 handset. This phone is in GREAT condition for its age. Please see pictures. I have no way to test it's full functionality, but I did run tone thru the 2 center contacts on the RJ11 that was wired into it and can hear tone thru the handset. Cloth wire from handset has no rips or fraying. Phone has"H1" marking on the bottom. No number card.The rotary dial spins and does not get stuck. I found this info on an antique telephone site: The 302 was ... morethe Bell System's mainstay phone for two decades. And the first Western Electric phone not to require a subset. The 302 was designed by famous industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss(1904-1972) Who also designed John Deere tractors, Hoover vacuum cleaners, and streamlined trains. The shell of the 302 was intended to be cast out of metal. However, in 1941, the critical war-time need for metal caused Western Electric to retool to make the 302 out of molded thermoplastic. The 302 was the first WE telephone containing all of its circuitry within the base and not requiring a separately mounted subset box for the ringer. The second telephone appears to be a E5 Key. Though the keyholes are covered over and the cover is a little curled up, please see pictures. Circa 1936. F1 Handset. The rotary dial on this phone does stop but frees up with some assistance back to its starting point. The mouth piece on the handset is also damaged, see picture. I have no way to test this telephone any further as there is no jack or jack wire coming out of it. Cloth handset cord is not frayed or damaged. This is an old Bell System Ohm meter with scales MEGOHMS- KILOHMS with a dual set of leads- the traditional alligator clip style used by phone system and another one(see pic) Comes with a leather case that is still serviceable. Buckles instead of Velcro. But that was all they had.Weighs nearly 3 lbs. I flipped the switch to ON, touched the leads together and the needle moved to the right. See picture.

Up for auction is a vintage Bell Systems soldering iron with stand. This soldering iron is marked Bell Systems 95w Hexacon Electric KS87401. Has a 20' power cord and a bakelite handle and a stand that the iron slides into. I plugged in the iron and it heated up just fine, the soldering tip does have some corrosion(see photos) the power cord and bakelite handle are in good shape. The stand has some wear to the finish and a dent on the top, but it has a cool look to it. Discoloration and scratches. The inside of the box is very clean. Hinges and handle need a little WD-40 and they'll work fine. All of the first aid boxes show wear in the form of discoloration but they are all intact and all are filled with their original contents! The Packard Bell PB250 was one of the very first semi-conductor"mini" computers used for scientific purposes(data collection. Device control, etc. around 1960-1961. Terribly crude by today's standards, it nevertheless began to pave the way for computing technology in industrial, scientific, and military applications. It used delay lines for memory, punched paper tape for input and output(a mag tape device was available) Perhaps hard to imagine, it was a serial machine. Today we have 32-bit and 64-bit processors: the PB250 processed one bit at a time! Hardware was quite expensive. Memory even more so, and this was one way to keep product cost low. I don't believe there was any coding language- like C++ is used today- available: As I recall, programs were written in machine language or there may have been a crude translator ... morefrom simple words like"add" to the machine's binary code. This is a vintage pair of Bell System B made by A.E. Burgess Lea Co. 4-79 for Bell leather and steel climbing spikes. Overall, the spikes are in great condition. The leather straps that secure the harness to the spikes is suffering dry rot and would likely do well to be replaced for use. The gaff spikes are sharp and show little use. These were from a neighbor who has since retired, and they do show wear from use. Fully functional currently, they could use some TLC.
