Dutch Delftware Delft Blue and White Scalloped Plate and Tea Caddy ~ ex Cincinnati Art Museum ~ Focke& Meltzer Amsterdam Label on Plate ~ Plate is 5 3/4" in diameter ~ Tea caddy is 4 3/4" high 3" across the base The caddy marked 1717 and Made in Holland on the bottom but I'm pretty sure both of these are 20th century made. The plate is more like a saucer with gently upturned rim. See the pics of the back. The lid of the caddy is a loose fit but I think probably made this way. Focke& Meltzer was a shop in glass and crockery. The headquarters was on Herengracht 93 in Amsterdam. The company was founded in 1823 by Sebastian Meltzer. French Focke and Anton Eberhart, all from Bohemia. These were de-accessioned from the Cincinnati Art Museum and have their collection numbers painted on the base in red. It stands 4.5 inches tall to the rim, 7.75 inches tall to the top of the finial and is 10 inches wide from handle to handle. A. Stowell& CO. was a business in Boston. MA that existed from 1865 to 1904. So this serving tray is almost a 150 years old. And look at it! It is in marvelous condition! Serving dish is about 8 1/4" in diameter by about 6 inches high 1493 is stamped on back The A. Stowell& CO Inc logo is on the bottom along with a picture of a horn. See picture This serving dish is in excellent condition. There are 3 marks that I saw by the handle. They are visible in the picture. These do not appear to be cracks or scratches. They appear to be discolorations. There is nothing wrong with the plate's structure. They are just marks for reasons unknown. I believe this piece is probably ceramic. I believe they are from the early 1950's. The fine bone china plates were made in England. Royal Adderley was a well-respected. Old Stoke-on-Trent bone china company eventually bought by the Royal Doulton group. Stoke-on-Trent is a city known as"The Potteries, and home of English Bone China. At the time these plates were made, they were a fully-independent firm making some beautiful china. These dishes have beautifully detailed images of game birds. This is a very nice condiment caddy with 2 glass cups. 2 plastic spoons, and a rack. The rack is made of metal with a wooden stem from the base to the rings holding the glass and the handle- which is molded resin made to look like wood. It is 11 3/4" tall and 10" wide by 4 1/2" thick. The glass cups are 4" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter. Vintage Green Uranium Depression Glass Divided Candy Serving Dish w/Metal Caddy
Up for auction is a very nice vintage candy dish. This candy dish is divided into three compartments and has a metal caddy surrounding the glass. This piece measures 5 3/4" in diameter and 4 3/4' tall with the handle fully extended. The glass is in great shape. The green is nice and bright and just has a few slight scratches. The metal caddy is also in great shape. I have not tried to clean or polish the metal. But it looks as though it would shine up very nicely with a little elbow grease.
