Let me say right up front ... morethat although the analyzer powers on as you can see it does not finish booting up. The screen shown is as far as it gets in the process. And that screen flashes on for maybe 5 seconds and then goes off for a couple, repeating that cycle endlessly. It is NOT responsive to the controls. There is a floppy disk in the drive. Just a disk, not a Stanford Research disk. So if it is supposed to boot up from the disk maybe it’s just the disk. But I don’t hear the drive ever make the familiar boot up noise. So if I(as a totally unqualified observer) had to speculate I would say it is more of an issue than just needing a new boot disk. Maybe just a new drive? So anyway. Maybe an easy fix, maybe the thing needs to be totally refurbished. It is sold for PARTS/REPAIR/REFURBISHING only. It is untested other than as described and NO warranty is offered. However. Heath AD-1308 Real Time Spectrum Analyzer w/ Mic - Works!
Selling a used. Working Heath/Heatkit AD-1308 Real Time Spectrum Analyzer. This unit is very versatile and includes adjustments for input attenuation, SPL weighting, SPL response, Display response(peak/hold/average) octave, and display scale. There are also memory settings to do screen captures although I am unsure how to use this feature(so please consider that part untested) Memory" button pad missing but can probably be pushed with a pen. The actual spectrum analyzer is a separate unit that comes out of the chassis and is portable and powered by rechargeable batteries(see pics) Unfortunately, the unit doesn't seem to charge the batteries- not sure if that is the fault of the unit, the chassis, or the batteries themselves, so plan on not being able to use that feature. A mic is included(missing dust cap) but can't be used easily ... morebecause the unit isn't portable without battery power. Mic stores behind chassis door for convenience. Rack ears are included but not mounted. It would be possible to connect this to the output of a mixer or mic preamp and use it for room calibration that way, though. The Left, Right, Left+Right and Left-Right buttons on the left side of the chassis all appear to work fine. Overall, the unit is in fair to good condition and needs a serious cleaning which will be left up to the new owner. I've had this unit for about 10 years, most of the time it has been sitting unused. The spectrum analyzer covers from 1 to 500 mhz This is a Tektronix/Sony model 323 portable oscilloscope along with the rare matching model 1401A spectrum analyzer adapter. Original manuals are included also. These units are in good physical condition and they do power up as can be seen in the pictures. I do not have AC power cords for these and so I powered them from an external DC supply for testing. Internal batteries will likely need to be replaced. The"clock hands" of the fine tuning control on the 1401A are broken but the control does function. This is a great combination if you have need for a small spectrum analyzer and/or oscilloscope.
