This case would support a 500lb+ person. inside the case is a transformer to step down voltage. If you look close at the picture of the box with cables and brkts.in front and on top of box low on the front is a adapter plug that must had been to plug in a port on the ship. The needle swings smoothly and returns to"0" The housing is made of bakelite plastic and I'm guessing this to be around th era of WW ll. You will need to be the judge as I am not an expert on this type of gauge. It is just a cool item that came from an estate with a bunch of other old 20s and 30s car items. Here is an antique oil burner Boat Signal Lantern. I could not see a makers name on it. It measures 8 1/2" high. The glass lense has some scratches and is dirty and needs to be cleaned. It is not broken. The burner is there and the door has a spring lever that works good. Painted Black. I am not sure if that is the original paint. Has some rust also but not bad. As well as Cat 1276 which likely means the catalog number. The inside panel. All cast iron, has a metal plate that says BELL BOX with arrows above it. Underneath is a brass tag 311 test that slides from left to right uncovering what looks like a place where the fireman would test the box to see if it is working. Perhaps a bell rang ... morewhen turned(my guess) Wording on the panel says. PULL LEVER DOWN TO HERE AND LET GO" Note: This is a very old. Antique call bell box- it does not have any hazardous materials inside it. So this listing complies with eBay policy. There is a hole to the left of the D in down. I don't know if this was how it was made or if a top went over the opening. There are two holes at the top and one at the bottom probably used for hanging the box. On the back it says GEN. PRE next to another hole. There are wires coming out of the back, which I am guessing was used to make the bell ring- but I am not an expert in antique fire boxes or related items. I am depending upon you, the expert to know purpose. Box is in the condition as you see in the photos. Red painted surface has much wear from age. Probably weather elements, use. It has scratches, discolorations, scratches, some rusting, soiling even though I tried to clean the box.
