It's very sophisticated. It is so fun to use- easy. Versatile, big bright display. An operating. Tested system. See test details and photos below. Tested: Good Stuff: The display is bright and clear. The focus and intensity adjusters work. The trace is nice and sharp no fuzz. I keyed 10MHZ for the center freq and 15MHz for the span freq. I connected the HP 3585a to my Tektronix signal generator and a 50 ohm load and dialed up a rough 10MHz on the generator. See the HP 3585 response to that circuit in the photo below. It works! Cool. I tested it from 50Hz to 13MHz the highest freq of my signal generator. It picked up the 60Hz from my room lights. I got about 3 divisions of signal. When I turned the room. Lights off the signal went away. It's very sensitive. The marker works- See the photo. You move it around with the black knob. The digital displays are all working. Fc and Span inputs work. Auto Range for the input signal works. Single/Cont sweep works. Start/Stop freq buttons work. Diplay Intensity and Focus knobs work. 85 pounds. 23D 17W 9"H. Tested: Bad Stuff: The keypad buttons work but they need exercise. Sometimes if I didn't hit them. Hard enough I had to poke them several times to get a change. 8594Q DVC-3 QAM spectrum analyzer 30 day warranty! this has option 43 which is parallel and serial connectors. this is a late 1998 model with 1999 firmware also included is option 004(precision freq standard) and it comes standard with opt 190 which is 3 pci cards all attached in parallel in the card cage. this does not however have the qam software loaded(got erased somehow)so if you buy this you must have the software card to load on this or it wont give you more functionality than a standard 8594e. because of this I have greatly reduced the price. I also have one or two with tracking generators and other opt configs listed on ebay this unit is one out of many analyzers. and I also have 2 8563a. 3 8563e, 6 8562a, 2 8562e, 2 8561e, and 1 8560e and a million 859 series analyzers as well w tracking generators and other opt configs. WITH certificate of calibration! passes all tests flawlessly. its a 1998 model which is one of the late models. Then realigned the yig/yto and cal out freq which calibrates the frequency accuracy across the spectrum, then performed the ytf realignment which calibrates the amplitude and preselector, then complete flatness calibration and realignment according to the service manual. this unit performs like new in regards to amplitude, attenuator, and frequency accuracy. My cal is much better than any cal lab's calibration because I run all the manual adjustments. they only run it thru a software program and realign the freq response(flatness) at most(if that) other companies like tmi just look at it and certify it automatically without even testing it thoroughly. pics show the dead on freq response flatness On trace hold. As well as the no error recalled screen. also you can see how accurate the frequency reference is. its dead on, not even 1 hz off after I realigned it.
