So I fed music through AUX from my cellphone and it got beautiful sound from both channels. No hum. And pretty much no cracking noise. So, it is basically functional but, at least, the FM section needs attention. I am not sure if the tubes are the causes or what. Please bid accordingly. Physically. It is in great condition for the age. Front is quite clean, as shown in the zoom-in photos. Some knob caps are missing. No cracks in the knobs. Chassis is slightly pitting which is normal for the material used. I believe the previous owner had the VOLUME control replaced and now the ON/OFF function is through the in-line switch on the power cord(see photo) Please examine the photos carefully, for they are part of item description. VINTAGE HEATHKIT VTVM APPLICATIONS EF-1 SERIES NO 07329 VACUUM TUBE VOLT METER Up for sale in this auction is a used Heathkit EF-1 vacuum tube volt meter. This is being sold as is no returns for parts or repair. I was able to test this to power up. I did some voltage testing with a digital multimeter and no load. On the 6.3 VAC output I got 7.29 VAC out. On the second output I got max outputs of 140.3 VAC and 174.2 VDC. I am not sure what the proper outputs are supposed to be. I am not familiar with how this unit works so I haven't done any further testing. This came from an estate of a person who died that used to be into ham radio equipment and had a fairly large collection of stuff. This shows signs of wear from age and general use. The insulation on the wires coming out of the transformer seems to be intact minus one wire on the output ... moreside which is not insulated. I imagine if you wish to put this unit into use it will need some repair such as replace the capacitor or whatnot. This auction is for the heathkit unit only. 1970s Vintage Heathkit GR-1132 8-Channel VHF/UHF Scanner with Manual
1970s Vintage 8-Channel Crystal Scanner- working I bought this scanner kit new in 1979. Assembled it, and gave it as a present to my father, who worked on a police department on the Jersey Shore. He used it for years there and in North Carolina. There are three bands: low VHF(30- 50MHz) high VHF(146- 174MHz) and UHF(450- 500MHz) Any channel may be assigned to any of the three bands. This is done by setting a jumper wire in the scanner next to the channel crystal. Channel frequency is determined by a plug-in crystal. Of which there are three in the unit: ch 1, 154.815MHz; ch 2 155.610MHz; ch 8 42.620MHz. These frequencies were active in the Asheville NC area years back. I have tested reception on all three using an RF signal generator; they all work fine. As it happens, the ch 2 frequency is also active in my area, so I've been able to ... morereceive police traffic on it. If you want to use the scanner, you will probably have to get some crystals. The manual includes details about specifying the correct frequency, overtone, holder type, etc. The scanner has eight channels which are scanned sequentially. With channel 1 being a"priority" channel. This means that when a signal is being received on channels 2- 8, the scanner"checks in" on channel 1 periodically, and switches over to it if it is active. Any channel, including#1, may be excluded from the scan by setting its pushbutton in the OUT position. A small red light comes on for each channel while it is being scanned or received, which makes for a very pleasing visual effect. Front panel controls are: ON/OFF/Volume(the on/off switch is a little sticky. Sometimes has to be turned on twice) Squelch, SCAN/MAN(MAN stops the scan and just dwells on a selected channel) and CHAN SELECT(pressing and holding this button for a second or so moves to the next channel) There are also eight pushbuttons and the aforementioned lights corresponding to channels 1- 8. Don’t know much about this unusual piece of test equipment. I think it’s still good to use. It was plum full of a light goldish oil so it is nice and shiny inside and oil tight. The coax connection reads 49 on the digital ohm test meters 200 scale. Supplement to original listing. I cancelled this and have relisted to now include the oil that was originally in it. I did save all that oil that was in it in a separate can. It’s a light weight goldish tint oil. I was told it is hard to come by so it is now figured into the shipping in a separate gallon can along with the empty Cantenna unit. If you don’t want the oil. This one is in very nice condition. The front plastic bezel is in great shape. Most you see are cracked. I had to replace 1 tube and align the BFO circuit. You are bidding on a used(mostly being sold for parts or restoration) vintage Heathkit model IG-14 TV Post Marker Generator. This generator actually still seems to work although the switch contacts seem dirty and could use cleaning. As can be seen in the pictures it is a little dirty and the screws on the housing are rusty. Also it has a make-shift power cord. Not the original. For your consideration is this vintage Heathkit Transistor Checker/ Tester Meter Model IT-18 in brown plastic case. Cosmetically this piece of test equipment looks brand new and is in very good condition. The only sign of age is the paper on the inside lid showing various transistors that has some light age yellowing. The meter. Switches and knobs are in very good condition and test leads look new as well. I replaced the single D-Cell battery(new battery included) in the unit and performed the step-by-step calibration procedure I found on the Internet and it is calibrated and appears to be in good working order. The proper calibration resistor is included and attached to the battery clip. I don't have the manual for it, just the calibration process and a schematic I found online, which I will include with it.
