This manual has a 1971 copyright date by Heath Company. ... moreThere are a total of 247 pages. My dad personally built an AR-1500 from these instructions. The manual includes parts lists. Assembly instructions, a block diagram, and circuit board layouts. There are also various fold sheets in the book including a schematic diagram. Overall I would say this manual is in good to perhaps good plus condition. The cover has a somewhat dirty look from being in storage for 40 years and it also has some other shelf wear including some staining. The interior pages are in general very clean and in great condition. However. I did notice a bit of staining on a few pages at the very front of the book and next to the back cover. In addition some of the fold out sheets have tattered edges as they did not fold exactly in the same angle as they did when first published. There does not appear to be any missing pages nor any torn pages(other than the tattered edges on some foldouts) I also did not see any marks or writing in the book other than the words"extra copy" in light pencil on the front cover. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I do combine shipping when possible and I also have Volume One of the Most- Often- Needed 1926- 1938 Radio Diagrams and Servicing Information up for sale along with the 1947 edition of the Most- Often- Needed F. HEATHKIT AJ-1600 AM / FM STEREO TUNER For Repair
Heathkit AJ-1600 AM/FM Audiophile Quality Tuner in Need of Repair. This unit comes with the optional wood case and rack mount handles. While testing this unit I felt the dial cord slip off the pulley. I opened the unit and sure enough one of the screws that hold one of pulleys had become loose. The pulley moved and the dial cord fell off. I also found a small spring which came off that is used with the tuner wheel/cord. I don't know how to re-string a tuner so no attempt was made at repair. The cord is intact it just has to be re-strung. Easier said then done. While testing this unit worked. Using a small wire antenna this unit pulls in a strong stereo signal on the correct frequency readout. Meters. Switches, and lamps operate as they should. The speaker was tested for functionality before it was removed and found to be in excellent working condition. Sound output is exactly as it should be. Physical condition is good as well. The surround is rubber. It shows some slight mottling of the color due to age but is perfectly supple. There is some overglue that is original to the manufacturing process that in no way affects sound output. This is an 8 Ohm speaker. The metal frames measure 10 1/8 inches across. The screw holes across the diameter are 9 3/4 inches. Mounting depth is a minimum of about 5 inches. Resistance measures 5.1 Ohms. The speaker was made in 1973. EIA code 137-7339. Cosmetically this unit looks great. Wood cabinet is in excellent condition FM Tuning is precise and sounds perfect. No static and sends an equal. Smooth signal to both channels of my amplifier. See Pics! Issues are: The mute button isn't making good contact. It mutes for a second while depressing the button but then loses contact and doesn't mute when locked in. AM is not working. I built this unit in the late 1970’s(along with 7 more Heathkit units) and used it for almost 40 years now. I removed the unit from my stereo system about three months ago because I only play CD’s and Mp3’s now and really don’t have a use for it. I tested it today(4/26/2013) just to make sure everything works and it does. Sorry I do not have the manual! Description: This unit is a noise reduction and dynamic range expansion device with a high filter that can be turned off. It is has a brushed aluminum front panel. Wood side panels and a black pebble grained top. It still does a good job of cleaning up noise on stereo program material and adds about 7 dB of dynamic range. This unit was used in the repair of color television back in the days when a tv repairman had to know what he was doing. Vector scope was used to monitor the RGB signal in relationship to the Y signal(BW) To all the Heathkit collectors; this unit is probably pretty rare. The cosmetic condition is 8/10 with the one noticable blemish: some left over glue from probably masking tape or a label of some kind. Look at the pictures. this unit powers on and has a green dot in the'scope.As can be seen in picture 5, lacking an old color tv to test this on I couldn't fully test it except to touch the clip leads to get a momentary flash on the screen to show that it does work, at least. This scope powers up just fine and shows a trace bar where I was able to get several patterns while playing on the CRT Display. Cosmetically it is in excellent condition showing only light wear as the photos show. The beam is in focus and adjusts up/down/narrow and wide. All the knobs turn correctly. Smoothly and as they should without restriction. Test leads are included but I have no manual. I have seen manuals listed right here on eBay for this model so one could be easily acquired ... moreif desired. Please understand- I’m not knowledgeable with this type of equipment and I have no way to properly test it. I did take the time to research the scope and found an interesting web site that detailed its functionality and features which I’m passing along to you. It reads; The Heathkit 10-12 is a single-trace vacuum tube oscilloscope. The 10-12 has horizontal and vertical inputs on the front panel. As well as a place to connect an external trigger. The 10-12 also has a z-axis input, though it is well concealed. The user must unscrew a small metal hatch from the back of the unit to gain access to the z-axis connector. All connecters are the banana plug style common on older scopes, instead of more modern BNC connectors. The screen diameter is an ample five inches, and rotary knobs are used for all front panel operations. The horizontal frequency scale has two user presets, which can be set by inserting a screwdriver into a pair of holes on the right of the timebase control. A great addition to your vintage analog test equipment collection! This is a vintage Heathkit Impedance Bridge. Model IB-2. This piece of test equipment is in very goodshape. Made by The Heath Company in Benton Harbor. MI USA, it measures 16-1/2" wide by 7-3/4" tall by6" deep. Excellent graphics on the faceplate with all the knobs. Smooth action on all of the knobs. It is missing the two black caps for the binding posts on the front. The meter face is nice and clear with no cracks and it has a zero adjustment. This may be Heathkit's first tube tester. And a fair amount of thought was included with the design. An additional hole is provided for future socket addition, and it checks for emission, short, opens and fil continuity. It is also provided with quality components for the time. A 6SN7 test is shown in one pic. However the short lamp is generally on too. This may or may not be normal, the manual isn't arranged to address dumb questions- like mine. Roll chart is the requisite 1-1-66. An update booklet to 1-1-69 is included. Chart works freely, a tad tight near the end. The tester has turned off twice(line adjust reading went to zero) momentarily then returned to normal, no attempt to determine cause. Wiring is neat and clean, some of the sockets are not oriented as the manual shows but the pins are wired neatly and correctly. Meter ... moreface is clear, has one short tight age crack at the zero adjustment. Switches and controls were cleaned. Original owner(and seller) had inserted the TC-1 into a carry case padded to provide proper fit. This has protected the unit from the effects of long-term exposure reasonably well.
