Heathkit 70 dB Attenuator Mod Heathkit designed a very nice external attenuator ... morefor the original IG-57. This attenuator was then passed on to the IG-57A and the IG-5257 in later kits. You probably own one. Or have seen these at various Ham swaps or auctions. This external box allows attenuation from 1 to 70 dB in 1 dB steps. The only issue is that it was originally designed for a 75 Ohm input and output impedance. It is possible to re-build the attenuator with different value resistors so it will operate with 50 Ohm equipment. But it seems that doing the calculations, finding the required passive parts, ordering them, and testing the final product is a lot of trouble to go through. For that reason, if you have one of these nice little attenuators, like me, it has probably just sat on the bench. Maybe you have even used it, but the switches were not accurate because of the difference in impedances. It had been suggested by a few of my customers to create a simple kit of resistors to make it more convenient to do the modifications from 75 Ohms to 50 Ohms. This makes all of the values of attenuation printed on the face accurate. In the process of doing this. We decided to upgrade all of the resistors to 1 Watt. Newer 1 Watt resistors have the same size as the original ½ Watt resistors. This allows you to work with up to a 1 Watt signal source continuously, or we have had good luck going as high as 5 Watts intermittently. This kit of parts gives you all of the resistors required to re-build your Attenuator for a 50 Ohm system. This will give you more options of using it and the printed attenuation levels printed on the face can now be used to determine sensitvity and s/n measurements. The 4-page manual includes a pictorial.Step-by-step instructions, picture of the final project, and a schematic of finished attenuator. Attenuator pictured below is not included in the Mod kit. This is an example of how the finished unit will look.

Heathkit all-tube mono amplifier; 15 w; refurb'd, upgraded for guitar
This HEATHKIT integrated amplifier is believed to be a model EA-2. But I'm really not certain. What is sure is that it works perfectly, thanks for new capacitors, new resistors, tested tubes(near-N.O.S. including the original Mullards; and a new grounded power cord. I made a slight modification to it by adding 1/4" jacks on the front for input of a microphone or guitar cable, and a 1/4" jack on the rear for connnection of a standard P.A. or guitar speaker cabinet. The amp works perfectly, which is not surprising considering that it's been substantially upgraded electrically. For a basic vintage 15 watt amplifier. It produces remarkably clear and powerful sound. Its EL84 tubes are not known for especially powerful bass, but this amp produces excellent, well-rounded sound with full bass, and sparkling treble. It works QUITE ... morewell as a guitar amp. Too. I've been playing it with my Telecaster and a reverb pedal, and it sounds very little different than my all-tube Peavey Bravo 112. Perhaps the Heathkit has somewhat stronger bass, but the overall sound is comparable. Other than having new coupling and filter capacitors and a few new resistors. A new power cord, and 1/4" jacks for input and output, it's pretty much unmodified. And those things were just a matter of upgrading for safe, quiet, reliable operation. And the amplifier is quiet at idle, with little or no background noise to interfere with your enjoyment of your favorite music. I'm experienced packing electronic equipment. And I ship quickly. It's my policy to charge ONLY exact shipping cost + insurance- no padded charges for extra profit. Disregard the eBay shipping calculator- it's usually wildly incorrect. Hi Everyone! This auction is for a vintage Heathkit tube mono integrated amplifier in complete shape model"A-7" The amplifier is complete with all tubes. Not sure what tubes are used as the numbers are worn off but the output tubes I think are 12V6s. There is no real damage just some corrosion on the chassis throughout and some paint wear and paint chips throughout. The output transformer may be a replacement and the top can capacitor is slightly loose some, the unit measures in size 11"1/2 long by 6"1/2 deep. The amplifier powers up but I have not tested it out more so it is being sold"as-is" untested and more likely will need capacitors to make it reliable. Heathkit VTVM Ohm Volt Multimeter Model IM - 5218 Tester
This is for a Heathkit Model IM- 5218 VTVM. It has been tested and it does work however the DC readings from a 1.5 volt battery were a little low. I did not try to measure an AC reading. As testing the AC line can be dangerous. For example if you connect the negative ground lead of the multitester to the hot or ungrounded AC lead it will blow a fuse. One of the two AC line connections in grounded through a one megaohm resistor and is usually connected to the wider AC plug end. The other thinner plug end is the hot AC connection. The AC on this meter should work but I don't know how accurate it is as it is untested. The Ohm function worked. When I tested a 5 K potentimeter it tested at just under 5 on the x 1 K scale. It appeared to be within 3 percent accurate, like these meters are supposed to be. I'm not sure if the DC readings ... morecan be improved be adjusting the DC internal Pot or not. The worst case is the DC readings are low. It is being sold as is with no inplied warante or guarantee of accuracy. If it is DOA I will insure it and a refund may take a month from the carrier, Probably the USPS or UPS ground. Please ask any questions before bidding and I will try to answer them quickly. HEATHKIT DX-20 CW TRANSMITTER IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION
This is a good working Heathkit DX-20 CW crystal controlled transmitter. This transmitter loads up fine into a 50 OHM dummy load and I monitored it's tone on a communications receiver and it sounds great. It is in very good cosmetic condition and all the lettering on the front panel is easily read. The only modification to this unit is the Pilot light on the front panel. Otherwise it is original. I guarantee that this transmitter will be usable out of the box when you install a crystal and key. I do not have the manual for it, but it is easily obtained. This is a Heathkit TC-2 tube tester. Very easy to use and known for reliability. The TC-2 will test 4, 5, 6, 7(large) octal, loctal, 7 and 9 pin miniatures. Will also test pilot lamp bulbs. All knobs present and all controls work, as they should. Illuminated roll chart is in good condition with no rips, tears or tape. Included is schematic, supplemental tube data, users guide and an extra roll chart. Will test vintage, military and modern types including all popular audio tubes. Grid/plate cap is in great condition. This tester has been refurbished and capacitors/ diodes were replaced. All resistors were checked and several were replaced. This tester is very accurate and tubes shown being tested were tested in a known calibrated Hickok 539C tester and gave the same results with the 12AX7 being marginal and the 6L6 good. This is a Heathkit Model I0-102-8 Serial number 02507. It is a 0-5 MHZ oscilloscope built between 1971 and 1975 according to a Heathkit website. They said that there are manuals available on the web. The yellow power light comes on when you pull the on/off switch. I spent about 15 minutes trying to get a visible trace on the screen but I never saw one. Since I don't have a manual. I do not know how to troubleshoot this unit. The size is 17 X 13 X 8 1/2 inches and it weighs about 26 lbs. I kept it in my instrumentation cabinet for the last 20 years.
