The bank had 10 capacitors(The value of each cap was 2840 joules. 355 MFD, 4000 VDC) The overall length of the rod itself is approximately 2 foot and the approximate length of the cable sticking out is 5 feet. All the recent noise about tone control capacitors is nothing new for me. After building crossovers and other'low end load devices' I've been well aware of what a difference they can make and are largely a matter of personal taste and style of playing, or listening. I've always been quite averse to having to removing and restringing, dis-assembling, assembling over and over again when doing such work. It's tiresome. Years ago I thought of this little routine, replace the tone caps in the instrument with the jumper wires and run them to the out side of the guitar under the edge of the pick guard. Then put a few screws back, just enough ... moreto hold everything in place. I included three jumpers, one each for the tone pots, one as a ground. You are then able to try a variety of capacitor values and types to see which one, or combination, delivers the sound and function you prefer. Switching back and forth, and putting the guitar down and coming back to it latter to verify that you have found what you like. Much easier, and less wear and tear on your guitar. Most guitarists and bassists as well frequently seem to play with the controls wide open. Mainly because stock caps frequently seem to cut the volume too much while adding nothing to the sound as you roll of the treble. That was my criteria for the caps I installed in my Frankencaster recently. Which is wired with tone pots for the neck and bridge pickups, the center position(middle pickup only) has no tone control. I decided on the.033 polystyrene(Dearborn I think) for the bridge and the.068 Sprague Orange Pacer for the neck. Polystyrene caps I really like and this particular cap just sounds terrific. The.068 Sprague Orange Pacer actually adds something to the overall tone, you'll find yourself wanting to roll it back to 7-8 for it's sound. Both those

I first want to say I do not know the terminology. So please bear with me. Make me an offer as I am not sure what it is worth. I tried looking for similar items on Ebay, but nothing was close. I have here some type of wheel capacitor tone generating board. It says Chinese block on the tag. Even though the tag for this item says 1963 the organ I removed it from was a 1969 Allen Organ model THEA C B2290. The organ did work. And that is all I really know about it. It weighs about 25 lbs by itself and it is about 42"x13"x4" Before I disassembled it I tested the organ the best I could. Not knowing how to play the organ. So I just pushed keys and pedals and flipped switches to create different sounds as my way of testing. 1960s Heathkit IT-11 Capacitor Tester Excellent condition
A Heathkit IT-11 Capacitor Tester made in the 1960s in perfect working condition. Also known as the IT-28 which replaced the IT-11 in 1968. They are basically identical testers. Cosmetically in very good condition with no major scratches. Dings, etc on the body of tester. The only defects are the scratches someone intentionally etched onto the silver face of the four knobs(see photo of knobs) It will accurately test all different types of capacitors both electrolytes. And non-electrolytics. It uses a magic eye tube which quickly opens and closes when you reach the correct farad reading. The eye lights up bright green(see photos) when open and on the correct test value, and then quickly closes if you go pass the correct value, it's very sensitive, and gives you a very accurate reading. It next tests for leakage. As you increase the voltage. ... moreThe eye will quickly open and stay open on each increment, if the cap is good. If the eye doesn't open you know it has leakage and is no good. Starting at the lowest voltage on the scale, the eye will quickly open and stay open if the cap is good. It goes up in 50V increments until you reach the voltage rating for the cap. With these two tests. You will quickly know if the cap is good or not. It is very simple to use. It comes with a photo-copy of the users/owner's manual. And two short 3" alligator clips to quickly change-out the next cap you want to test. It will be packaged very well with lots of bubble wrap. Dual 365pf Variable Capacitor 6:1 Reduction Drive NOS Vintage US Made
One nice vintage US made air variable capacitor per item purchase. These have 6:1 reduction drive(3 turns for 180* 1/4" round shaft, and 3/8" brass outer shaft with a flat side. Each of the two 365pf sections has a padder condenser. Adding 10pf to 40pf of adjustment. Total shaft length 1 inch. Brass outer shaft is 1/2" long. Body is 2.1" L x 1.8" W 1.6" H(aproximate measurements) These are New old Stock. And have been checked and inspected. However they will have some dust or minimal corrosion present, and may need fresh grease.
