Here is a nice older version distortion analyzer. It was very popular back in the 80's and 90's and still does the same job it was intended. It is ideal for tube amp type work but does not have the capability to measure the state of the art amps of today. The minimum useable distortion level measurable on the instrument is.01 percent. Which is fine for tube amp work, and actually for most common solid state amps. many boast sub.01% distortion but when it is tested they don't do it! The unit is in working condition and is close but not equal to its specifications. There are internal adjustments that are in the manual that might be able to be done to hone it in to the original specs of.0025% but I don't know if that is practical. But it does do.01% 0085% as is so it can be used with no more work if that is what you want. USED VINTAGE HP HEWLETT PACKARD 333A DISTORTION ANALYZER - NR!
Hewlett Packard HP HP-333A DISTORTION ANALYZER- NR! Same as 334A except no RF Audio Detector. Needs repair. You are bidding on a used. Somewhat functional HP 333 DISTORTION ANALYZER. The unit functions but has issues. We noted that the unit in manual mode can be used but the automatic null function does not work. Please see pictures#4 and#5. These show a 0.142% reading and scope display using the manual mode. We know our Leader LAG-125 can do better than 0.10% Surface grime and some scratches are present. The side trim rails are scratched from handling but are completely intact. Panel colors on the right side are grey and blue. See picture#7. The knobs are intact but the switches themselves are noisy from what we believe is long-term storage. It does not have feet or the wire stand. The front panel looks fairly clean with some scratches along ... morethe top. The meter bezel has a chip on the lower right. Please see the pictures. We are not the original owner. This model is identical to the usually sought after 334A except it does not have the RF Audio Detector function. Do you really need that? In fact. The same owner/service manual is used for both models. We have used 333A and 334A models for many years and can safely say we have never used the RF detector feature on the 334A. Both models otherwise have the same specs and performance. We are offering this unit at a low minimum bid due to our need to reduce inventory. This PROFESSIONAL unit is a few years old. Looks great no scum or rust/corrosion, used seldom. I did hook it up, and it powers up fine, but I don't have the adapter to hook it to my Mac computer to test further. This unit will analyze the output SPL and frequency response of a speaker, when used with a computer. The internal rechargeable battery may not be in top shape due to age, but it also works off 12vDC external battery or regular 120vAC. Including manuals, software for Windows CD and many patch cords, but most importantly the special microphone to pick up the speaker sound. There is no USB or Firewire adaptor included, but there is a serial cable. If you have specific questions you can contact the manufacturer or read on their website at linearx.com.
