I have two antique display cases that are quite large. They both have maker's marks. Original glass and wood work, as well as brass embellishments. You can see in the photos they they have been well taken care of- they have been in storage for decades. They were cleaned up. And the photos are a direct reflection of their current condition. They are approx 81L x 26D by 17H. Both have glass doors in the back. These cases have not been refinished or restored. What you see is their original condition. George and Edward Butler founded a wholesale mail-order company in Boston in 1877. Butler Bros. opened a Chicago warehouse in 1879, and the city became home to the company's catalog department. All of its operations were based in Chicago after 1930, when the purchasing department moved from New York. By 1910, the Chicago offices employed ... moreabout 1,000 people. Like Sears and Montgomery Ward, other Chicago companies that had large mail-order operations, Butler Bros. moved into brick-and-mortar retailing during the 1920s. I am unable to find any other information on L. Hanson. I did see a case of the exact match on proxibid with a bid of $2,650, but it was an older link and I am unable to confirm what the final selling price was. I also found one on EBAY, but it is very worn, with no brass embellishments, and has not been cleaned? One of the cases has a small piece of glass missing(Butler Bros) They cases are very heavy. Original location noted on one case. The Butler Brothers case was retrieved from the original Butler Bros. warehouse in Chicago. Both are beautiful, unique, and original. VINTAGE HANSON PETITE BATHROOM FLOOR SCALE STILL WORKS GREAT
Up for auction is a vintage Hanson bathroom floor scale that is still in great working condition. I bought this about 44 years ago at a garage sale when I was in college and it was already quite old at the time. I disassembled it and spray painted it as close as I could to the original color. Today it could use a new paint job and a new set of rubber bumpers on the bottom. The old bumpers deteriorated years ago and we just put on some sticky patches to avoid damaging the floor. There is some moisture staining on the left side of the dial which can be seen in picture#2. But it does not interfere with reading the dial. The scale measures 14 1/2 inches deep by 10 inches wide and 8 inches high. It weighs 20 pounds and is very sturdy. This item is a vintage Hanson nursery scale. I don't know the year it was made. The scale measures 8ins. from bottom of base to top in the back( without the cradle in place) The glass face is 8 3/4ins. from base to top of face. The cradle is 19 1/2 ins. long, 10 3/4 ins. across the top, and 2 1/2ins, deep. This scale is made in Chicago, USA. It measures in graduated ounces up to 29-30lbs. The scale is in great working condition, it is accurate and easily read. The face is made of glass and it is great condition no scratches or chips. The numbers and all lettering are in near perfect condition. There is a picture of a baby on the face inside it's a little faded but still can be seen. It has a growth chart both for boys and girls. In original manufactured condition unless noted differently. M(Mint) The record and sleeve are in perfect condition. The record may have been played but will show no signs of deterioration. A grade we do not use. NM(Near Mint) A very clean record. Near mind condition except for slight superficial scuffs. Sleeves with this rating may have small defects but will not have significant creases or splits. Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or light scratches, but are still primarily clean. Sleeves may have some creases or minor ring wear, but will not be split. HANSON TEXAS COTTON SCALE MODEL 8916 made in CHICAGO 22 USA CAPACITY 160 LBS BY 1 lb patent No. 2.299,980 ADJ. SCREW BELOW. CONDITION: antiqued surface rust( no pitting or cancer) the brass face has a light greenish patina. The spring works, dials in at zero. accuracy not tested. According to an article written. For Equilibrium, the journal of The International Society of Antique Scale Collectors, by Stan Hanssen who once owned the Hanson Brothers Scale Co. The Viking straight spring balance, in the 160 lb capacity version was approved for use in weighing cotton in Texas. Hanson sold 40,000-50,000 of these"Texas Cotton Scales" every year. Vintage early 1960's Hanson Model 1509 Postal Rates Scale - 5 Pound Capacity
Offered today is a vintage p ostal scale by HANSON 1509 I am not sure what year this was made because it shows postage rates on the front of the scale and an updated postage rate template was placed over the original. up for consideration is a fine pair of porcelain and brass lamps by Paul Hanson. They measures 19 inches tall by 5 1/4 inches wide at the base. The lamps are in candestick form of which would be fine in a variety of settings from the living room.side board to the boudoir. They are both labelled and sport their original labels. They are in good condition with no signs of repairs chips or cracks. The lamps retain their original cloth or silk wire cords. Both lamps are wired differently.one has an inline switch and is missing an off on switch at the candle sleeve whereas the other has an off switch at the sleeve but no inline switch.
