50 years ago my uncle bought this BERKEL meat slicer from a butcher shop on Kedzie AVE. in Chicago.Had it shipped to Florida, and it was always kept inside. It is 36" long x 30" wide x 21" high and weighs 184 pounds. Add 10 pounds and 5 1/2" for a wooden frame truck with 5 wheels that is usefull to move it around.Buyer pays for all shipping and crateing, if needed.The knife-blade dia. is 14 3/16" and 2 1/2 revolutions of the blade equals 1 revolution of the hand crank.The meat carriage is removable for easy cleaning,it is not gravity feed,but is mechanical feed,and is adjustable for thickness of slices.Two rotations of the hand crank equals one slice of meat.A mechanical wonder made during the industrial revolution in the U.S.A. This is a Van Berkel US S licing Machi ne made in La Porte.Indiana with a last patent date of July 2. 1921. It has a brass tag that reads"The Worlds Best Slicer"VBP. It appears to be complete except the guard and sharpener. This slicer has a hand crank wheel that measures 11" across. The deck measures 15 3/4" long and 7 1/2" wide.The overall length is 22 1/2" and it measures 14 1/2" to the top of the blade.It does move very freely and smoothly. I have taken the machine apart, cleaned every part, making the machine fully functional and in working order. I did not do a restoration, as I left the original patina/paint as-is, because I think it completely adds to the character of this piece! For sale is a knob for the meat table on a U.S. Slicing Machine or Van Berkel antique or vintage meat slicer. The knob is 2.115 inches in diameter at its widest points and is 0.405 inches thick. The relief in the back is 1.382 inches in diameter and is 0.125 inches deep. And the holes are 0.660 inches apart. I bought this at an auction in Concordia, Kansas. I will ship this the most economical way possible. But will need to crate the item. One the brass tag is listed the last patent date as April 1. 1913. It is called a Van Berkel's Chicago, Illinois, REGD, US slicing machine. It is called the Berkel's Improved Patent and the trademark is VBP on the oval plate. Dimensions are 29 w x 25 deep x 24 high. I am guessing the weight is 200- 250 lbs. As-found cast iron US Slicing Machine vintage meat slicer with hand crank. Appears to be complete with the exception of the small part at the top of the cutting wheel. See pictures. This item was frozen in place. But since we have added some oil and let it sit for a couple of days, things are starting to break loose and move a little. Selling as-is.
