The cord is still supple and has no cracks or frays. I do not see anything missing or broken but again I am no expert so please look at the pictures as what you see is what you will get. Upgraded Vintage EICO Signal Generator Model 324 Radio Ham Works w/Manual Copy
SquareTrade © AP6.0 This is a nice EICO Model 324 Signal Generator with a copy of the manual. Schematics and probe. It has a copper chassis. There have been no modifications made externally to the original kit. The signal generator puts out a modulated or unmodulated rf signal from 150 KHz to 435 MHz. and is accurate and stable for normal radio repair work. I've checked frequencies up to 30MHz with my digital receiver and they were all fairly close reading off the dial. Should you need accuracy, then couple in a frequency meter or zero beat using a digital receiver. The signal generator provides an approx. 400 cps audio tone that can be selected or an external audio signal can be used instead. All the filter electrolytics. Coupling and by-pass capacitors were replaced and any resistors out of tolerance were also replaced. The tubes ... morewere checked and both test good. The line cord is the original and is in good condition so it remains. All the knobs are original and all function properly. There is one dial lamp and that turns on. There are some scratches on the aluminum frontpiece and a little rust on the metal cabinet, following the cabinet edges. These could be corrected if you intend to use this unit as a collectable. This signal gererator can also function as a low power transmitter. Inputting an audio signal from a source. Digital recorder, tape recorder, etc would allow you to pick up those sounds on an antique radio, perhaps in another room.just as an idea. If you collect vintage test equipment or just want a good signal generator to align your antique receiver. Then don't pass this by. The dimensions are approx: 10" wide. 8 1/2" tall and 5" deep. This unit has been well cared for and maintained. Over the past 36 years. It has seen regular use in our FAA certified avionics repair station, until we closed the business recently. It served as the primary generator for testing airborne Automatic Direction Finder(ADF) receivers. This unit has proven to be amazingly reliable and stable. It was last calibrated(in house) in January 2013. A certificate of calibration is not included. Vintage Heathkit Model G-1 Signal Generator, clean, No reserve!
Heathkit G-1 Signal Generator. Dials and selectors feel good. Looks quite clean. Previous owner's name is written in Sharpie on top of the unit. I was unable to plug this unit in and test due to the fact that the power cord has dry rotted. I would definitely replace it before applying power to this unit. Heathkit G-1 Signal Generator The Heathkit G-1 provides RF output from 150 KHz to 34 MHz in 5 ranges. The dial has the third harmonic of the highest band calibrated to 102 MHz. The G-1 was obviously designed with surplus sealed capacitors with two of them prominently mounted on the chassis. The first high voltage filter cap is a 1 mF sealed cap. Tubes are 6SN7 as the oscillator and amplifier and 6X5 as rectifier. The 400 Hz modulation audio is generated by a neon relaxation oscillator fed to the grid of one section of the 6SN7. VINTAGE HICKOK 288X UNIVERSAL CRYSTAL CONTROLLED SIGNAL GENERATOR W/MANUAL COPY
This unit includes a copy of the original Hickok manual and instructions for use with circuit description and schematics. It is in very good overall condition(see pictures) and powers up with no problems(no other tests were done) There are no test leads. It appears the case has been repainted and the AC plug replaced. The frequency dial has yellowed some with age but is perfectly readable; the meter dial is OK. There are no signs of tampering or modifications so it may work fine or only require minor repair. In the 1940's and 1950's when this unit was produced Hickok made high quality robust products.
