This is a really hard to find radio which was one of the few attempts by Sony to build and sell a radio that would combine an analog mode of tuning with a digital display. This receiver works in FM and SW. 4 Rechargeable Batteries are included as well the original carry bag. Sadly it is not in perfect shape and it has several issues which I proceed to list and thus I sell it"AS IS" I have been unable to receive any local signals on MW or AM. The loudspeaker and headphones sound when listening Shortwave is muffled or not sharp as if the radio was not precisely tuned at the frequency it is displaying. Finally it is missing the tuning know on the side which should be the proper way to tune the unit. One can tune it by holding and moving a slight rod that protrudes there where the know should be, but it is by far not as easy as would ... morebe the case if the knob had not been lost.

Pair of CTI PLL Synthesized RF Oscillators for 98-112MHz and 4.750-5.360GHz
Nice Pair of RF Frequency synthesizers from defunct STS earth station satellite up/down converters. The first unit is a CTI(Now Herley) P/N# VFSR-1203-1 REV A multiple PLL frequency synthesizer that generates a RF frequency output of 98– 112MHz with a smallest step size of 125KHz. It operates on 5Vdc and 24Vdc and requires an external 5MHz reference signal. This 98– 112MHz RF signal is fed to the reference input of the second unit. Which is a CTI(now Herley) P/N# A-5349-1 REV A cavity stabilized, phase locked frequency synthesizer that operates on 24Vdc. The RF output frequency range of this synthesizer is 4.750– 5.360GHz and the output frequency tracks the reference input. I believe the output frequency is 48 times the reference input signal of this unit(i.e. 99MHz Ref = 4.752GHz RF Output) but I am not positive that this is the correct ... moremultiple. A mechanical outline data sheet with power/ control pin-out connections IS included for the 98-112MHz Synthesizer. The other Synthesizer’s connections are marked and should be self-explanatory. All RF input and outputs are SMA-Female on these 2 units. These items are in good overall physical condition they were removed from defunct earth station satellite up/ down converters we only got the RF components and we have not tested these items– therefore. This smartly laid out receiver features the extended AM broadcast and FM broadcast reception and provides as many as 20 presets for your favorite stations. Clock functions include a Sleep timer, Alarm, Select, Time 1& 2. The volume/on/off control and a two position Tone switch are located on the left side. There is also a 1/8" headphone jack on the right side. The AM/FM Band select, and an FM Sensitivity switch are located on the right side of the radio.
