I have tested this excellent unit on video for you to see. I have listed it as not working. Because I cannot verify the computer I/O built into the unit. It may be working fine. The rest of the unit works very nicely, as you will see in the video. Introduced about 1968. The 3100A was recognized as a top performer. It should have too, as it cost about as much as 1/2 the annual wages(roughly $5.000 in 1969, that would be $32.000 in 2014 dollars! of a typical American at the time. It was state of the art and computer engineered(when computers were main frames only and expensive) It provided an enormous amount of selectivity. Had unbelievable accuracy and wide range of capabilities. Many ... morescience institutions, like Sandia Labs(where this unit likely came from) NASA, and many universities utilized them in leading edge research. It was used by the University of Rochester to time Pulsars back in 1969 and to measure the rate of atomic decay at the University of Michigan in 1975. I got my hands on this unit about a year ago. It was purchased from a New Mexico salvage company. It was dirty and didn't function. But it cleaned up well and with a few parts and a little work it was running. The most important repair made was on the OCXO timebase used. The original, a real beauty, was long dead. So, I searched for a stable 1 mhz source and found a nice unit made by Vectron(CO236T) With a little work I was able to install the new oscillator within the casing of the old, and still be able to adjust it just as easily as the original. I have started and stopped this unit many times to observe it's stability and warm up time(some are on the opening sequences on the video) After about 2 hours the unit stabilizes in temperature and frequency at 1,000,000.00 hz +/02hz. BRAND NEW WAVETEK MODEL 2002A SWEEP GENERATOR 1 to 2500 MHZ(2.5 GHZ) WAVETEK MODEL 2002A SWEEP GENERATOR Here is an auction for a WAVETEK 2002A SWEEP GENERATOR. This is a professional solid state instrument that covers the 1 to 2500 MHz(1-2.5 GHz) range in 4 bands. Band 1 covers 1 to 500 MHz. Band 2 covers 500-1500 MHz, Band 3 covers 1500 to 2500 MHz and Band 4 covers the whole range of 1 to 2500 MHz. Each of the four frequency bands may be used in three different modes of operation, continuous wave(CW) Delta-F and Start-Stop. The sweep function can be swept over any portion of a given band in either direction(Low-Hi or Hi-Low) at any rate from 50 sweeps per second to 1 sweep every 100 seconds. Manual, triggered or recurring sweep[s are provided. Sweep frequency, sweep width and output attenuation may be controlled by external voltages. Other ... morefeatures include a SLOPE control which compensates for frequency dependent variations of the external circuity and a 1 KHz square wave modulator for low level recovery operations. This instrument also includes an elaborate frequency marker system which includes 0.1 MHz. 1 MHz and 5 MHz intervals. The marker size and width can be controlled. This instrument is in good used condition. RF output was measured on all bands using a spectrum analyzer. I have no capability of checking the markers or sweep or frequency accuracy. There is some scratching on the case and front panel and some minor dings but no major physical problems. All switches and controls seem to function properly.
