I have for auction a vintage Precision Apparatus E-400 Sweep/ Signal Generator 5 to 240MHz. I have fully restored it. It has new tubes(8) Capacitors, output cable and polarized power cord. It includes the manual(paper) output cable and a 4.5MHz crystal. I have calibrated it. The pictures show it outputting a 200MHz signal, 100MHz signal and the 4.5MHz crystal signal. I was unable to test(frequency counter does not read“beat” frequencies) the other bands since it uses a high 75MHz fixed oscillator and a low 37.5MHz fixed oscillator to“beat” with the variable oscillator to output bands“A” B” and“D” I did calibrate both fixed oscillators to 37.5 and 77MHz. This is a wonderful piece of vintage test equipment that will complement any bench. This is a knight-kit RF Sweep Generator with the original manual that was used to build it. One of the photos shows the specifications/capabilities of the device. I have turned it on and the indicator light glows. And the oscillation output increases when the megacycle values are increase. Presumably, with the manual, you could troubleshoot and repair it if it is not fully functional. The unit is clean and shows signs of wear but not abuse. All the knobs are intact and the sweep indicator works mechanically. Two cables are included but I think a resistor is missing from one and the screw-on terminal end from the other. It was purchased from a New Mexico salvage company. It was dirty and didn't function. But it cleaned up well and with a few parts and a little work it was running. The most important repair made was on the OCXO timebase used. The original, a real beauty, was long dead. So, I searched for a stable 1 mhz source and found a nice unit made by Vectron(CO236T) With a little work I was able to install the new oscillator within the casing of the old, and still be able to adjust it just as easily as the original. I have started and stopped this unit many times to observe it's stability and warm up time(some are on the opening sequences on the video) After about 2 hours the unit stabilizes in temperature and frequency at 1,000,000.00 hz +/02hz. Television Sweep Alignment Signal/Marker generator SPTE-3 for C-band
A vintage Zenith SPTE-3 Television Sweep Alignment Signal/Marker generator for TV-IF amplifier alignment. Signal tracing, and UHF tuner alignment, that has been modified for C-band, 3700- 4200 Mhz. It powers ON, tubes light up, voltages seem normal. I am not able to check beyond that. Some controls have been changed, labels added for the new purpose. You can see that a microwave down converter has been added, Satellite Technology Services DC-B, with the 3700 to 4200 Mhz output coming from a cable out of the front. A jack has been added where the centering control used to be to input 950-1450 Mhz. New crystals have been installed for markers. I bought it, thinking I could use it for alignment on a UHF TV transmitter. Didn't work out. Now, offering it to someone into C-band TV, or to microwave amateur radio operators. 19" x 11" ... morex 7 1/2" 20 lbs.
