Turns smoothly and lines up properly with the settings. The power cord is in tact and is in good shape. There are no test leads present. This unit contains three tubes. All three tubes were removed, tested and reinstalled(1ea 6X5GT-strong, 1ea 6SN7GT-strong, and 1ea 6J5-strong) Some surface rust and chipping paint present but nothing major. Panasonic VP-7635A FM Multiplex Signal Generator in working condition - stereo
You are bidding on a Panasonic FM multiplex(stereo) signal generator in working condition. Model VP-7635A. Made by Matsushita in Japan. This is a very high performance piece of test gear that I sought out a few years ago as part of setting my bench up to handle higher end tuner and receiver tuner alignments. I wanted a stereo generator with exceptional S/N, distortion, and separation specs for that purpose, and the VP-7635A while an older model, meets those requirements. In fact, it's better in those areas than many newer FM generators: 90dB S/N. Distortion floor in the 0.01-0.05% range, and 66dB separation. It also generates traffic information signals for car radios(US and EBU spec) But that feature isn't anything I would likely need. I have another similar generator that has about the same specs otherwise and an even lower distortion ... morefloor than this one. Because of that, I haven't been using this Panasonic very often and I needed to de-clutter my bench so am offering it for sale. I have not had the unit calibrated since I acquired it but it came out of a working environment and I can verify that it still powers up and outputs signals as it should. Uses standard IEC C13 power cord, not supplied. Like most test equipment. This supports multiple supply voltages via switch setting on the rear panel, so it can be used worldwide. If you are looking at this listing because you need test equipment for aligning FM tuners. Be aware that you must use this type of signal generator as the external modulation source for an RF generator in order to supply the actual test signal to the receiver or tuner. There is Normal Expected Output on Bands 1 through 5 or.045 to 520 Mhz I did not check the enire Band Spread just a spot check at the lowest and highest of the 5 bands. Band 6(520 to 1040 Mhz) is much lower 520 to 652Mhz NO output. 652 to 826Mhz 22 mv pp, 826 to 1040 10 mv pp. The FM and AM modulation works as expected as does the frequency Counter and the Phase Lock. The Modulation Meter has spots on the plastic window. All in all it is fairly clean. If you don't agree with my description or are dissatisfied in any way I accept returns with no hassel.

Up for auction is the following item: 1 Hewlett Packard 8656B AM/FM/Sine Signal Generator. Used, for parts only. It's mechanically in good condition, not scratched to death. One side handle is missing. There is some writing on the faceplace, though it's just Sharpie and might come right off. Unit powers up; all buttons respond to being pressed, though a few are sticky and could stand a cleaning. The display works, and it appears that all segments are good, though the plastic lenses have a little bit of hazing if you inspect them very carefully. Electronically.well. That's why it's a parts-only unit. If you look at the picture of the bottom of the unit with the cover off, you'll see something very important is missing: the final RF generator! It looks like it was carefully removed at some point(all of the wires were de-soldered, ... morenot cut. The RF pipes were unscrewed, not cut and bent) but without that, the unit may look good, but it's kind of useless as a signal generator. So, it's good for the rest of its parts, and if you have an 8565B that's has a working final stage but is damaged in some other way, here's a perfect unit for you. I purchased this unit here on eBay a few weeks back. Figuring it would make a good wintertime project, and I could learn some RF while I was at it.
